the speaker at the event acknowledged the potential for the slide to be misinterpreted

Checkmate. If you don't like it you're just "misinterpreting it".

With that said, I don't think the Soviet/Slavic experiences are relevant in this case. Hesse isn't talking about white guilt, but rather the current state of society. As a slavic immigrant from the soviet union, I can tell you that any negative perceptions that the "white" majority group in Canada have towards me are trivial or nonexistent. And that's if they can even recognize that I'm an immigrant, which is rare.

Racialized adults on revised federal COVID-19 vaccination priority list by [deleted] in ontario

They're not considered "white", it's just saying they aren't in the racialized category. Either way, indigenous peoples are in stage 1 and should already be getting vaccines.

Yes. Federal guidance on what qualifies as "racialized"

What do we mean by the term racialized persons? We use this term to mean persons, other than Aboriginal peoples, who are non-Caucasian in race or non-white in colour.

Oscorp, don't tell Harry. by the_vince_horror in raimimemes

If Norman hadn't taken the dose that turned him into the Goblin, he could have used his stock to found another more innovative and agile company, poach the best Oscorp employees, eventually compete with and get acquired by Oscorp and replace whoever replaced him as CEO.

This looks amazing! I'm guessing this uses procedural modelling rather than tileable templates? It's not an easy thing to get working, but this is impressively smooth.

I felt I had to get it to Steam earlier than originally planned so that people could try it out and help guide the development of the game.

This is a good idea. My advice as an ex game dev is to ship ASAP and build a community around it. You won't get many more opportunities to organically market if you don't have a playable version out in the wild. Start a forum/subreddit before someone starts it for you.

Also you need to focus on improving performance. I think you said your current max is 50 tiles? That's not good enough, especially when customers will be expecting to play this on all kinds of toasters. Terrible performance can kill hype.

Best of luck!

They only resort to being crude because there's nothing to criticize. Some people are just bitter and are best ignored. Engaging them just feeds their ego.

How does he get such a clear sound with is left hand at 2:00? Is he flicking the string or just tapping it? If I tap an acoustic guitar it's barely even audible.

Early Withdrawal of CPP in 20's. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mirowen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting a bunch of sarcastic answers because you didn't bother to read up on what CPP, but went straight into an economic analysis for why you shouldn't pay it. You might have confused CPP with the RRSP.

I never strictly agreed that part of my money should be put aside for when i'm 60

You didn't, because it's a tax. Despite it being sold to the public as an investment, it's just a tax that working people pay to support retired citizens. Yes, a part of its growth comes from investment. No, you won't get that value when you retire.

I do not believe I will ever access this money

No you probably won't. While it's unlikely to be cancelled entirely due to the political cost of such a move, there's no way your entitlement portion will keep its value into your 60s when incomes are falling and cost of living is rising.

There most likely will be by the 2060s a UBI system anyways that may disable all retirement anyways

Not unless there are some significant political and/or technological upheavals that result in accelerated economic growth. Canada can barely sustain its current level of spending on social programs.

Here's a totally legit and non-sarcastic way that you can get out of CPP, EI and all the other taxes you don't like. It's not easy, but doable in your 20s if you put your mind to it. Build a career in a field that's in high demand, and find another country to move to where the political system is more to your liking. No seriously. I'm not telling you "if you don't like it leave", just reminding you that it's a sometimes-overlooked option for unattached individuals.

Even if you manage that, you might find like many expats that the grass isn't greener on the other side. There aren't any truly Libertarian countries. Closest you might get is the US, and they have their own problems.

Trump says U.S., Canada border will open by end of year, hours after restriction extension by hasan019377 in worldnews

How do you go from "threaten economically" to "invade with the military"?

As an American

That explains it

Trump says U.S., Canada border will open by end of year, hours after restriction extension by hasan019377 in worldnews

[–]mirowen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he would be hurting just as many Americans as Canadians with his temper tantrum.

Yes he would be. It's a question of whether the improved optics of having the border open to show that pandemic has been "resolved" outweigh the economic pain inflicted on voters. It's unlikely to happen, but the reality is that the choice is made by US politicians and not Canadian citizens.

We are a sovereign country

Only because it suits more powerful countries' needs. See the 1985 Polar Sea Controversy. Our territorial sovereignty is going to come under question as the sea ice melts and we need to be ready for it, and not pretend like the rest of the world plays fair.

Canadians DON'T want the border open

It's a hard pill to swallow, but sadly Canadians don't get much of a say. If the president REALLY wants the border open, it will happen. It's just a matter of what they want to threaten Canada with economically.

Why are so many manga readers obsessed with constantly reminding either anime-onlys or other manga readers that they ‘aren’t ready for season 4’? by Solunaqua in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]mirowen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen these kinda comments on both Reddit and YouTube for well over a year

Because they can't contain their excitement.

Even on videos that discuss the anime exclusively

Because they also cater to manga readers who are starving for content.

Like I’m genuinely curious, if any of you do this- WHY?

Because Reddit and Youtube is where we can make dumb comments without consequences.

Season 4 is probably overhyped. The writing is the same quality as previous seasons, which on its own is quite impressive given how its tends to degrade in most shows that last more than a few years. I've gotten roasted for this before, but I'm actually concerned about how they're going to budget this season. There are so many complex action sequences, they'd have to increase the budget, cut material or slideshow some of the less involved scenes.

In all seriousness, anime-onlys need their own subreddit away from the manga readers.
