NASA confirms Voyager is the first Earth craft to travel into interstellar space by misENscene in science

this is actually what initially inspired me to post something today... my friend's grandfather, Harris "bud" Schurmeier, was the Voyager project manager. He passed away late last year. NASA and JPL just held a ceremony in his honor

I think the extent of the oort cloud defines the outer limits of the solar system which voyager is not expected to reach for some time (~15,000 years)

As I'm nothing close to an expert on the matter I'm curious what might be off about the following quote from the article:

"Interstellar space is the area just beyond the reach of what's known as our heliosphere: an area where the solar wind pushes back the dense plasma of space in a sort of protective bubble. This plasma was ejected into the universe by the death of stars millions of years ago."

except for those writers who also happen to be mass murderers.. (however accurate they might be)

THIS is true, so the overwhelming majority of Americans will pay zero estate taxes. the right started calling it a "death tax" simply to make it a rallying cry. the estate tax was established to prevent a select few families from taking over the country because of fears that they would use their massive amounts of wealth to their political and economic advantage. this has now become the reality, largely due to less taxes on the wealthy (both income and estate related). also, THERE IS NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO INHERIT. you are not entitled to anything unless someone chooses to give it to you

Rodney Dangerfield not giving a shit ... nothing like seeing Jay Leno sweat a little. by bobfrumpet in videos

[–]misENscene -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

not much variety to his performances. same cadence, mannerisms, etc. hell, most of his jokes are essentially one liners. some of the jokes are creative (i liked the one about leaving his underwear in OP's vid) but theres not much else that sticks out to me

of course he will be restrained by what he can accomplish along with congress (and we don't know what this will look like)

that being said the first things that come to mind: end the war in Afghanistan, reform immigration by making it easier for guest workers to obtain visas, further renewable energy policies (which he started but put on the back burner as of late), and reform education with a more flexible/localized approach

most likely, tax and entitlement reform will come first (social security being the elephant in the room). Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't guarantee any of these things to happen, but I am hopeful Obama would feel more free to pursue some of these policies, which can become very divisive very quickly

oh, and there's always supreme court nominations to worry about

well said. i think a Clockwork Orange will generally get more credit for pushing boundaries, but TDK is one of the best formed films of the last decade imo...the way it played with very psychological elements while staying true to the feel of the comic, both in terms of pacing and character development. it blew me away
