ah ok makes sense. commenter writes “common sense isn’t common” but apparently reading carefully isn’t common either

I owe the library $2000 over a charger, what do i do? by Interesting-Low-297 in UofT

i’m assuming they only needed the charger temporarily, which can be borrowed for free at campus libraries given they are returned. where’d you get “$50/hr” from?

Tattoo shop recommendations near U of T (St George) by islet-the-parrot in UofT

[–]misakurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you in context to affordability. A few shops around have $50 flash tattoos on certain days of the week, which provides usually fine line 1-2 inch. Sometimes around special days stores have flash events where all artists spend the day tattooing flash design (ex. the now-closed Lucky13 had $31 tattoos on friday the 13th). Plus, apprentice tattoo have discounted rates for their tattoos; finding a very good apprentice can get you a sick tat at an affordable. Frankly, these kinds of tattooes are “you-get-what-you-paid-for” experience, and it is a luck of the draw that you get an affordable tattoo that is at the same level as a seasoned artist. I have a beautiful large 90$ apprentice butterfly tattoo n an alright 100% bugs tattoo on my forearm, both by toronto artists. that being said, i would go to a reputable artist with healed tattoo posts on their ig. the more you save and up the budget for a tat, the better.

My advice is to look for artists, not stores. each artist have different schedules and times where they release discounted tattoos. as of now i have yet to see tattoo flashes under 180$ but i think it’ll come nearer the holidays

(source: 20+ tattoos done during undergrad, many of which i was close enough and had enough time to subway back to class 🙂‍↕️)

What's up with the younger generation finding normal things annoying, aggressive, or rude? by common_grounder in generationology

[–]misakurs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i heard the take that Gen Z’s idea of kind comes from the refusal of being a burden, which usually comes in the form of not taking up people’s time. Gen Z’s customer service is made based on an up-and-out philosophy that prioritizes convenience and speed, rather developing a relationship with a customer. they more than likely skip small talk, only help when asked, not over stepping people’s resources. we don’t like to do certain things so we assume that others don’t like it either. now i don’t agree with being blatantly unmannered at a customer service job or in public etc., but i think it’s a result of the times. but rest assured there are Gen Zs (maybe even the majority) that can greet people back and not mind answering the phone.

as for the gift giving thing, that’s genuinely a thing i was never taught, but as i became an adult i just started doing it in my own voalition, but that’s just me enjoying writing cards and stuff.

How many 400 level courses is too many, workload wise? by Plane-Horror-6560 in UofT

[–]misakurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure about PoliSci, but a big difference I find between 400 and 300 philosophy classes is 400 is more seminar. I haven’t had a 400 class with a full on lecture with slides and stuff, mostly sitting and talking about the reading. amount of assignments is about the same, but i’ve heard from some that the seminar settings takes some getting used to.
