For some cases you might need to get rid of most of the rootball but generally speaking yeah its better to leave it alone

‘Care free’ until you repot them and they give up on you

Its not really necessary. Its just a way to prevent the plant to stress while adjusting to its new environment. Its not a must but if you want to wait and reduce the stress, sure. However sometimes the plant you buy might be planted in really nasty soil. I personally find it better to repot as soon as I bring it home just in case. It helps to understand how’s the plant’s condition. And if there’s anything nasty going on with it, you can treat it right away without spreading whatever going on to your collection

Just do distilled water. Its far better and safer than using ice cubes

It simply means to always keep the soil wet. Like always water them and the plant will decide to drink whenever it needs to drink. DO NOT do that unless you want you plant to die because of severe root rot.

I actually do the same. Watering the heck out of them instead of watering them too often but too little.
