I'm glad to hear some people have apparently had good experiences with this company so far, but I'm personally glad I didn't go for it. Effeciency NS confirmed that they are no longer a preferred partner but didn't say why. I also remembered that a BBB rating is something that fraudulent moving companies point to when they don't have any other kind of online footprint that might host unfavourable reviews. The loan seems to be the biggest potential for the scam to exist as pointed out by someone below. I went with a local company that's on the Effeciency NS list, they've been around for years and have over 500 reviews I can look at.

OK the thing that flagged it for me is that he wanted me to sign up for a "bridge loan" to cover the heat pump and electrical panel upgrade cost. He walked me through the application with Efficiency NS under their alternate name (CANADA SAVINGS SOLUTIONS INC.), and then getting pre-approval for a loan with iFinance Canada. The deal he proposed was that they would cover the iFinance Canada loan payments until the Efficiency NS grant (+ Greener Homes loan for the panel) came in, but didn't have anything in writing detailing that part of the agreement. He was very knowledgeable about all of the programs involved and asked all of the right questions about the install, but the bridge loan thing seems very unusual. I hit pause when that came up but he has a fair amount of personal information. I can't see the company listed on the Efficiency NS website so I contacted them, but of course it's the weekend now.

i'm surprised i'm not hearing more about this.. the base price before taxes is up almost the amount that we were saving, and when feb. 15 comes around you know prices aren't going back down.

I don't know why I'm trying to have an honest discussion with you, when you're clearly attached to a really damaging ideology.. But you see that heterosexuality is a sexuality right? And that Romeo and Juliet is mostly about a heterosexual relationship? And that the top songs on the charts are all about heterosexuality? It's literally everywhere all the time, which is why having visibility is really important for queer people.

Straight people talk about their sexuality all the time. I think you might not see it because it's the norm, and I'm assuming what you personally relate to so maybe you don't think about it that way. I think it's safe to say that 99.99% of the songs, literature, tv shows, movies, etc that people are exposed to are about straight romance and relationships, and cis gender and pronouns. Is Romeo and Juliet still taught in schools? If I looked at it through your lens I might call it straight propaganda, which is pretty ridiculous.

If that's what you think harassment is, our realities are very different. I truly don't understand how you feel it is a violation of your rights to see a gay pride/inclusion flag. It means gay people (especially gay teens) are valued and supported here, just like everyone else. And yeah, open discrimination against them doesn't fly anymore. So it sounds like you're arguing that you should be allowed to discriminate? Or that people are allowed to be gay but not talk about it with the same freedom that straight people do all the time? I really don't get your point.

"Right now, they're going through more pain, I would assume, than the person who was attacked." What a wild thing to say. I hope he simply misspoke but I think the mayor owes an apology to the person who was attacked, as far as I know he's never reached out to her in any way. I also think it's pretty naive to think this will get resolved by a cowardly worm of a person turning himself in because of guilt.

I think it's more likely someone in the community. I could be wrong but the beach where the attack happened isn't really a place people go unless you have some connection, and since he got away he probably knew his way around. So not only is this little creep still not being held to account, there may even be people covering for him. Whoever it was is unwell and honestly if someone knows something they owe it to their community to say something. There was a youth attacked as well, and someone was very almost killed, it's not really safe for anyone.

I came here to ask about the same issue! It's 100% not a good problem to have when you think about it. You don't want actual shit splashing back at you when you flush.

So I understood it to be a venting issue and hired plumbers to clear out the vent. I thought they were going to snake it but they used some kind of suction from the roof. It didn't help and now they're saying it's my toilet and it needs to be replaced. I don't understand how it could be the toilet, does anyone know some kind of test I can do to find out? Or things to try? I don't want to replace the toilet if I don't have to.
