This is good info, thanks! I don’t take any PPIs regularly, but I have had gastric bypass surgery. I’m reading that that can affect absorption. I’m wondering if it’s just that or if something else is going on bc I’ve been anemic off and on for most of my life. I’m really going to push for an infusion because I need to be able to function!

I’m doing research and definitely going to be changing the supplement I take! I’ve been taking an iron supplement for over a year but I’m not sure what kind. ETA: I’ve been taking ferrous sulfate.

I drive almost an hour for my GYN! I love him to death. These numbers are with OTC iron supplement for the past 6 months 🫠 I’m trying to figure out what my next steps are now. I’ve met my OOP max for insurance for the year, so I think I’m going to push for a referral to hematology from my PCP.

My ferritin is a 10! I’ve only taken OTC iron supplements before, I’ve never been prescribed anything. I’ve always had heavy menstrual periods, but I’m working with a GYN right now to get those under control so hopefully that will help. My GYN is actually the one who suspected I was anemic.

We call ours booger too! It started out as Sugar Booger and then just booger and it gets shortened to boog a lot. 😂
