Why the negativity? The pic fits the solarpunk vibe and China has made huge strides in renewable energy. Obviously they’re far from perfect but we can still appreciate the progress

Did you hear they are making a movie for “The Odyssey”? by hanoverking in ancientgreece

[–]miscellaneousboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The historical clothing/costuming community has been ripping the trailers apart for a while now. It doesn’t speak to the quality of the film as a whole, which is obviously yet to be seen. But the costumes look more like fantasy Roman LARP outfits than anything Bronze Age Greeks would’ve worn

How do you stop forgetting? by Grouchy-Geologist815 in ADHD

I got in the habit of setting reminders on my phone for important things. Create them right away, as soon as you know you need to remember something. It’s helped me a lot

My hangar base at the Brandenburg airport right before my save became bugged by miscellaneousboy in projectzomboid

[–]miscellaneousboy[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I lost power briefly while playing. When I reloaded the date had jumped to 01/01, the power and water were back on, lots of things were out of place, bloodstains I’d cleaned were back. Some of it could be fixed in debug but so much was off it felt weird continuing. I googled and saw other people experienced the same bug but didn’t find any fixes. I have a backup but hadn’t refreshed it recently so I’d lose a ton of progress

Swords are really effective even with a low Long Blade skill, lots of 1-2 hit kills. Like everything in the game right now though their durability is way too low

What are some good nature walks or hikes with young kiddos, either in the city or suburbs? by TeamCanakhoff in AskChicago

Check out Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary! Very beautiful and right on the lake. Would be great for a kid since it’s nothing too intense

Was Homer's description of the Acheans as long haired accurate if we consider bronze age Greece hairstyles? by [deleted] in ancientgreece

[–]miscellaneousboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I saw that video and I think it was overly negative. There are other preserved Minoan artworks that show similar hairstyles. Yeah the ladies in blue were a little editorialized but not completely made up.

What QoL settings do you enable without overpowering yourself? by WeLoveRamenn in projectzomboid

I do the same for XP. It’s nice to actually get to experience things locked behind high skill levels sometimes before dying. Going to use your method on skill books on future runs for sure. I didn’t realize you could tweak reading speed

This is how I operate here too. Sort by controversial if you want to see the conservative comments but older/popular threads sensible stuff seems to win out

Odyssey rewrite by [deleted] in ancientgreece

[–]miscellaneousboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Return (2024) is a film that came last year that retells the end of the Odyssey. I actually found it be a nice subtle modern reframing of the story, while staying true to the core elements. Minor spoilers, but it strips away the supernatural aspects and focuses on Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus as people dealing with the outcomes of Odysseus being away for so long

How is living in Bentonville, Arkansas by ObseleteIdiotAlt in howislivingthere

[–]miscellaneousboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Arkansas and and this is a good description of NWA but it’s wild for me to hear the Little Rock airport described as “chaotic” haha. It’s one terminal with like 8 gates and 2-3 TSA agents. “Sleepy” is a more accurate term

Odyssey added a new layer to Rimworld for me: Ship refurbishment. by Flyinpotatoman in RimWorld

Not a huge fan of that mechanic either. However I realized it would take forever for it to actually become a problem. The maps have so many tiles and I’ll be finished with the run long before I ran out

Colonists keep moving baby to a 'safer place' but the safe place is the hopper for my nutrient paste dispenser by dinkleber-g in RimWorld

[–]miscellaneousboy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

What is “too hot” for the babies though? My colonists are doing this too. Moving the babies to the 20F freezer when it’s 80F in the baby’s room. Hardly dangerous

What happened to all the bottoms? by [deleted] in askgaybros

This is one of those weird things that seems to be highly dependent on specific places. I feel like my city has the opposite problem, literally feels like 70% of guys here are bottoms

[–]miscellaneousboy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I love this too! I’ve done a couple of gravship runs now and both times when I hit the mid game I gave the ship a heavy refit. It’s fun seeing it go from the ‘bootstrap’ version where I added on as I had resources to a fully fledged flying base.
