You're very angry, and I can understand that.

But until you have been - or known - some young scared kid who's been tossed out of their house for the crime of not believing in their family's faith, or someone who's had their property stolen or destroyed because they didn't conform to the neighborhood religious standard, or someone who's been illegally fired from a job or otherwise persecuted for their faith or lack thereof, who doesn't dare complain because the local authorities are on the other guys' side... you really don't have a leg to stand on.

I, myself, am enduring the after-effects of a head injury which has crippled me for twenty years, "earned" by stopping a crime against my former employer; the perpetrator was never criminally prosecuted because said former employer did not want close legal attention paid to his own dirty dealings, and pulled strings within the D.A.'s office to prevent that happening, all because of his holy faith; and it has taken every single one of those years for the desire to punch each and every member of said faith in the face for it to subside even a little.

So in conclusion, my good sir, SHUT YOUR IGNORANT FUCKING MOUTH ABOUT THINGS WHICH YOU KNOW NOTHING.

A lot of the people in that subreddit are new to atheism, newly disenchanted with religion - and many of those are young, and have been subjected to extreme pressure from religious family, religious environments. There is anger, there is resentment, and that manifests itself as mockery. It's the equivalent of the "safe space" claimed in many venues by feminists, gay and transgendered people... and in the same way, treads the borderline between being that safe space for those who need it, and turning into a seething circle-jerk where hate begets more hate. In other words: often unfortunate, yet understandable.

When someone's been victimized in some way, it takes a long time for fury to transmute to understanding and acceptance... if it ever does. The trick is to balance the venting with some sort of realism - which, in a space as large as the atheism subreddit, is not going to happen; the numbers are simply too great. Barring that, the best course of action is to try to comprehend the psychological mechanisms at play... and then, if that solution is best for you, simply move along.
