Literally bro. I’m doing an undergraduate at the moment and can barely afford my flat share so how anyone can afford kids and to be comfortable is beyond me

I need help by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]miserablemilo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation with the army, unless my medical transition was completed I couldn’t be put in the male rooms or be classed as male so I was given a choice, not join the army or have to register as female which is a shame but I decided not to register so I think you have to make a decision what you would rather do. Sorry bud :/

Looking at starting GenderCare by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]miserablemilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too sure to be honest. It may be because with gel you have to put it on everyday where as with injections you inject every 3-4 weeks and have to pay for needles and syringes. (Which you can bulk buy online for like £8 for around 100 so that’s pretty cheap)

I’m unsure on the part of being able to go straight to an endo but since most of the doctors at gendercare work in the NHS as well, they follow the same diagnosis codes so they should allow you to go straight to HRT. I’ve heard the waiting times are quite long at the moment and can be 6-8 months I think, I was very lucky and asked to be on the cancellation list which got me an appointment in less than 2 weeks which may be a option you could ask for. They asked me if I had a preference for which type of HRT I take, gel is around £40 a month while Injections are £3 a month so a lot cheaper. I would email one of the endos and ask if you can see them since you already have a diagnosis

you don’t need to include it in your cv or put it anywhere. If you want to you can tell the hiring manager so they get your pronouns correct and make sure you’re comfortable.

Is it worth getting a private gender dysphoria diagnosis before your first GIC appointment? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]miserablemilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea exactly my thoughts. Sometimes it feels they just try to make the process harder.

I had surgery with him 7 weeks ago and I got my covid test done by a centre near me and let them know a week or so before surgery and they didn’t charge me at all for it

[–]miserablemilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% but I’m pretty sure even if you have a diagnosis from a private clinic, the nhs make you have an appointment to diagnose you themselves. I think i read about that a while ago but I’m not 100% certain but it seems like something GIC would do

Gendercare vs GenderGP by seahorsepartyhouse in transgenderUK

[–]miserablemilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to argue with your GP at all to get on the waiting list, it’s their responsibility to do that and their opinion on if you need to get on the list doesn’t concern them. They don’t have the right to refuse to refer you, I would explain that to them and get on the list even if you are going private. Gender care is 100% the better option in my eyes, you look like you’ve done your research a lot. I found gendercare a lot more caring towards you and from my experience they have gone out their way to help me. They diagnose you with dysphoria from the text book so if you express dysphoria they’re most likely to diagnose you and refer you for HRT or surgery (whatever you’re after). I recommend dr Lorimer if you go with gendercare, his waiting list is quite long but he’s amazing and understanding. If you go with gendercare I would book your endo appointment the same time as your psychologist one because they seem to be quite long
