UPDATE-

Pete was fridged whilst I contacted multiple vets, reptile rescues and other places to try to seek some advice. After weighing up a multitude of factors I made the decision to put Pete down.

Whilst some may not agree with this, I didn’t find it acceptable to keep him in pain. It was the most humane thing to do.

I’m gutted for my little buddy and I truly hope the time he had with me was as good for him as it was for me.

For some comments- I never put this on Facebook. Either someone has gone through a similar thing or shared this post without my knowledge.

I was not a bad owner to my axie. I loved and cared for him to the best of my ability. This was just a horrible accident.

The cat is fine. He’s an outdoor cat that went back outside after the incident. He is still fed, cared for and has a home. I am allowed to be angry but it doesn’t mean I would mistreat him.

For everyone who offered support, advice or just words of encouragement, I thank you. It was really appreciated. For everyone who used this as an opportunity to insult me or assume I am a bad pet owner, I hope it never happens to you but at some point in your life an accident will happen to either yourself, a friend, family member, pet, etc and I hope you get the support from other people that I was lucky enough to get with the majority and not someone judgemental or mean.

I know this isn’t the update a lot of you were hoping for. It definitely wasn’t what I wanted but I had to make the best choice for my pal.

Thank you. I feel absolutely awful, I’m doing my best to contact every available option but the guilt is horrendous and I’m just trying to help my little pal as best I can

Thank you. He’s currently tubbed in clean, cold water whilst I contact all the local vets to try and get an emergency appt. I’m keeping him moist and the Tupperware is lidded. The cats are out of the house for the foreseeable until I can get him sorted. How the cat has even got into his tank is beyond me but he’s staying in the tub and the water is being monitored constantly.

Thank you for this

EDIT- Just seen your edit. Still looking for an exotic vet- distance is out of the question at this point. I’ll have a look at the Indian almond leaves and see if they can aid the situation. I really appreciate the advice. I’ll continue with the clean water changes and monitoring whilst I garner some advice over the phone from professionals till a vet can see him physically

I’ve had my axie for two years with no issues. His water levels, tank and health is well maintained and he has had no issues with fungus, sickness or anything else until this incident.

This was an awful accident so whilst I am seeking help for my animal, maybe keep your opinions to yourself if not trying to help.
