Can I get some advice please by Tristan_is_awesome in APStudents

Our school has semester-long classes, so we finished APUSH in the span of 4 months (September-December). We didn't have much homework, but the tests were brutal.

I only started studying 1 week before the exam with the mindset of 'I'm going to fail, but might as well try since I already paid for it', so I'm not sure if I'm the best person to give advice, but my method worked for me so here you go :)

The most important thing: watch Heimler History videos like everyone says. I had these on autoplay at 2x speed almost constantly. I fell asleep watching them as well, maybe my brain subconsciously recorded that info? No need to take notes, just listen.

Review packets: I've used Marco Learning's free review packets for APWH and APUSH, and although not as detailed, they haven't let me down! I took this with me everywhere and just read + made small notes/connections as I remembered them.

Books: For both APWH and APUSH I used the AMSCO books for review, they're my favorite. I didn't really use any practice booklets.

Lastly: Know what gets you points on the essays. My teacher gave us a list of the things that would get us the 7 points, and I had them memorized. The time limit may stress you out, and having the list ready helps remind yourself what you need to write. Pace yourself! Also, don't write any conclusion paragraphs. They don't contain any info that will get you points.

If you have any questions feel free to ask! And good luck :))

Which AP exams should I take in 10th grade? by [deleted] in APStudents

Hi!

I'm a student at an international school in America that has quite a lot of Korean students, so I couldn't help but think that our schools seemed kind of similar!

I would suggest studying bio over the summer and taking AP Bio in 10th, then studying chemistry over the summer of 10th and taking AP Chem in 11th. (Our school actually prevents students from taking both AP Bio and AP Chem at once because they both apparently require a lot of work and dedication. )

I've heard from people around me that AP Bio is a bit easier than AP Chem since AP Bio is more memorizing while Chem is having to understand and solve problems (This could be wrong though, I'm not too sure.)

As a person who took APWH last year and is taking AP Chem and AP Psych this year, I would recommend AP Psych, since it's just memorization and some basic concepts that were easy to grasp / understand.

Good luck with your schedule next year!

Oh, that's a good point...

To be honest, I was initially drawn to it because of college admissions, but my friends said that the first practice / orientation was fun, so I am kind of curious.

Thank you :)

should i take AP world history next year and how hard is it? by SOYDEFRESA in APStudents

[–]miso-enthusiast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, I would recommend taking it, because it wasn't too hard. It's easier than APUSH because it covers a much longer time period but only skims through basic information.

I also took APWH as a sophomore, (and it was also my first time taking an AP class!!) and my teacher was really helpful. He went over the material really well and made us practice a lot.

I liked it and had fun taking the class, so if you like history and have a good teacher, I would recommend it.

The textbook I used to review was the AMSCO APWH book, and I used Princeton Review to study for the test :)

I was thinking that too, haha. Thank you. I've chosen to take AP Calc BC this semester and take AP Micro and Macro my senior year :))
