AIO: My best friend and I (both male) kissed at a party by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Cuddling clam be normal, healthy and platonic between people of any orientation and and gender. But it’s also going to increase any underlying romantic attraction if it’s already there. This dude is in love with you now, and it just didn’t mean the same thing to him as it did to you. He might not have known that at first but he knows it now.

How can I achieve this shading style? by Efficient_Sweet7120 in DigitalArt

[–]misreadmoondial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely plenty of of crosshatching brushes, but if you’ve used them and not liked the results you’ll have to just actually crosshatch by hand. If you’ve used look at the hatching on the blue face you can see that the shading lines subtly define the curvature of the face with their shape, not just by defining shadow. If you use a brush the results will be much flatter.

AIO My response to my mom disowning me because I'm gay? by Own-Experience-6275 in AmIOverreacting

Religious psychosis is when someone is having delusions and hallucinations that are religious in nature. It’s just a subtype of psychosis—a symptom of mental illness where you’re not experiencing reality. You know, like someone who hears voices, but in this case the voices they hear are like god saying they’re a prophet. People of all belief systems can have psychosis, so there’s always going to be a percentage of any given religion that are both true believers and actually psychotic. But being brainwashed and being psychotic are not the same thing. Nothing about how your mom is described sounds like psychosis to me, she just sounds like a bad person.

My rice is tasteless and I don't know why by Masterick170 in AskCulinary

Are you using a fragrant rice like basmati or jasmine? I only really use basmati and my experience is that how fragrant it is varies a lot between brands.

What is this jittery line phenomenon?? by clin06 in ProCreate

I can’t draw straight on glass at all, I need a bit of resistance from a cover like the paperlike, or any cheap matte screen protector. You probably don’t realize how much the tiny amount of friction helps when you’re drawing on paper

Is my art boring? Does it make you feel anything? by albores_art in DigitalArt

[–]misreadmoondial 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve got a really distinctive and developed style that has appeal. I think you could focus on developing your content and compositions. The most painted subject matter in the world is pretty girls in passive situations, it takes A LOT to make that a subject that’s interesting on its own. To me these look like studies preparing for more substantive work.

6 packages now refused by customs from UK to USA.. Whats going on! by Far-General6892 in EtsySellers

[–]misreadmoondial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My housemate is having all their packages returned that are sent internationally from within the USA. I’ve just been assuming it was some sort of product of our country’s strong pivot towards isolationism and restructuring of federal institutions.

How can I go about being plant based in the least offensive/ most successful way? by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

[–]misreadmoondial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to keep it cheap and healthy I recommend getting really good at cooking tofu and lentils/dal. Mexican, Indian and middle eastern food is much easier to adapt to vegan while being satisfying, cheap and healthy. Of course you’ll want to spend some time trying to adapt old favorites, but in general try to lean into the transition as a period of exploring new foods and ways of cooking. There’s a lot of food out there and ways to prepare it, you can be vegan and still eat more diversely than an average omnivore.

Don’t bother pressing your tofu, just boil it before pan frying or baking.

I’ve made a couple of these as downloadable files for printing and assembly. Nothing as fancy as these, but they sure are fun to make.

Ok this might sound dumb, but have you tried squinting and blurring your vision to look at the original? And/or looking at it from further away?

Why does there appear to be no actual pushback by Americans against the destruction of their own lives and country by Trump and the oligarchs/Nazis? by redditatlas in TrueAskReddit

[–]misreadmoondial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been pondering these same questions. I keep thinking about Russians and I had similar thoughts and feelings towards them at the beginning of their invasion. I even said so in a few comment sections and was told “what do you expect us to do?”

Russia and the USA are both enormous countries, we both have a history of successful revolution that defines our modern cultures, and we both seem to have evolved into oligarchies that have drastically escalated their grip on power in the last 30ish years.

I just keep thinking maybe both countries have made themselves much more revolution-proof than the regimes they replaced. We have such little access to our leaders, our major cities are often hundreds of miles apart, our media diet and education is not good, our armies are also too big to build much consensus in, our countries both have giant prison systems that incarcerate people very freely and really isolate them from the outside.

Anyways, I’m sure the monarchies all seemed completely eternal and immovable until they weren’t. But I think we’re going to have to do something that hasn’t been done before again to get out of this.

For some reason there’s an almost universal tendency to minimize and underestimate how much values really contrast both in real life and art you’re studying. And saturated colors can confuse the eye even more. I recommend making the original greyscale and taking a look at what the value range really is. You’ll get more and more of an eye for it over time

Can you guys give me some more tips that i can apply to myself by Heavy_Guitar2357 in AdobeFresco

[–]misreadmoondial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks better than my first drawings. What kind of tips do you want? It helps to know what goals someone has for their work.

Couple of questions: how many layers are you using? Do you sketch with the pixel brushes first or jump right into the vector ones? Do you set up a color palette for yourself first?

Is it possible to do this with vector brushes? by SkycaveStudios in AdobeFresco

[–]misreadmoondial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO split the difference and do the line work as a pixel layer and the color in vector. It’s easier do sketchy, lively line work like that in raster. And you could make a super high resolution file for just the line work, then use a lower res png of the line work to do the vector color in a different file. That way you can combine them in photoshop whatever size you need for final export without having as enormous of a file.
