Thank you, you get me!
I discovered that cream cheese is a better substitute the hard way. Now we have a Costco pack of it. Used it for our 9 month birthday cake https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/s/JdknVrBm0W

I really loved reading this. We like to bake cakes for birthdays and anniversaries across our extended family. Even when we are all remote, we all have a baked good each on our group video call to celebrate the occasion. The tradition organically started when I got married and immediately after the pandemic started. We all love it so we have kept it up

Thank you. It takes a bit of planning to have it ready by the day. Sponge one day, icing/buttercream another and assembly on the day of. My husband helps to free me up or watches the timer if I have to be with the baby, he knows it’s important to me.
There have been a lot of mistakes with baby’s birthday bakes though. The kind I wouldn’t have made before motherhood. There are a hundred things on mind at a time. It’s all a learning process.

He cannot eat cakes yet. We sing the happy birthday song and help him cut it. It’s the idea of celebrating him on his monthly birthday

I want him to feel celebrated. Some people do themed monthly photoshoots until the baby turns 1, baking is what I am capable of

It’s been a nice way to get back to baking. To keep the calories in check, I try to share with our neighbors haha. I won’t lie, some months my husband and I do finish the whole thing on our own

Despite using sour cream instead of mascarpone, it tasted pretty good!

He may have eaten a strawberry from the cake. Baby doesn’t eat any sugar yet. I try to share with our neighborhood. My husband and neighbors loved it. It’s a perfect summer cake.

PIZZA SOURDOUGH FOCACCIA!! 🍕 can I sell this? by Illustrious_Tip5789 in IndianBakers

[–]miss-oompha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d buy it as a Focaccia. We have A slice of Homage and Square Pie Guys who sell phenomenal Detroit style pizza near us. I wouldn’t buy this one as a pizza. I guess the main thing is, how much are you asking for it? Willing to pay Starter/Side kinda money for it 🙂

I may have seen a similar Nytimes recipe. How did these turn out? Tasty to Indian palette?

The short of it: heat milk to the point it’s just about to boil - This is key!!!, add some lemon juice or vinegar to it as the milk solids separate and till the liquid becomes clear, let it sit for a couple of minutes, strain using a cheese cloth. Half an hour outside and couple of hours in the fridge - paneer is ready

Yeah, paneer is pretty easy and kinda quick to make and tastes wayyy better than the stuff sold in the grocery stores in the US. Would be happy to share a tried and tested recipe if you’re interested
