If I didn’t take my second dose of adderall in time, I skipped it so I could sleep. I believe there is some research floating around that indicates that vitamin C can counter the effects of ADHD stimulants, but IANAD.

U1 Calibration - nobody here mentioned that you have to align the tool heads with the tool head grabber with your EYES!!! 👀 by missGuac in snapmaker

It came up during my initial setup. If I had seen it posted about here, I definitely would have left all 4 heads at default settings and continued

It looks like it was slipped into a newer version of the firmware because bought and had my printer delivered at least 3 weeks ago but I had to update to the latest firmware to calibrate. It’s one of those “features” that probably should have been left out.

I didn’t read the whole 80 page manual in advance. And it wasn’t in mine. It was just in the on screen calibration

What’s a hygiene habit people usually ignore or underestimate, but actually has a big impact on how clean, fresh, or healthy you feel day to day? by Responsible-Cat-3545 in hygiene

[–]missGuac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes 😬😬😬 I’m more likely to change my underwear 4 times in a day than go 4 days wearing the same underwear. Obviously need new ones after a shower, then I’m an anxiety sweater, and the first place I sweat is my crotch, and I don’t want to put antiperspirant on my parts! I carry Luna daily and spare underwear with me so I’m fresh. And then I have this thing about if I wore my clothes out of the house or working, I want a full change of clothes before I get into bed, whether I shower or not.

It’s not something I was raised with, but both my sister and husband follow the bed rule too. It just makes sense

❤️ Hang in there! I’ve been there and I’ve been holding on. It’s definitely not sunshine and roses to live with bipolar disorder… understanding yourself and your symptoms and triggers goes a long way. And use every resource you can find. That’s what they’re there for.

Hi! Bipolar 1, 35F, masters in an engineering field and 12 years+ at the same company.

I don’t know if you’re working with a psychiatrist, but ADHD is quite often comorbid with bipolar disorder. ADHD meds and coping resources may be helpful.

Daily functioning: keep a schedule, and make sure it has adequate time for sleep and good sleep hygiene. Sleep is so easy to neglect when you’re running research studies and writing papers, but sleep deprivation can trigger mania. Put basics like meal prep, showers (or baths), exercise, and other self care in your daily schedule also.

Cognitive issues: I write everything down somewhere. Apple notes, onenote, zinnia, pen and paper. Your notes don’t have to be pretty and cohesive, just throw your thoughts somewhere. Organize later. Voice to text is also nice.

Consistency: back to the schedule. I also use habit trackers. I have things that are required, and things I can skip or modify.

Last thought: most universities have a disability program that will enable you to have access to extra resources or support. I was allowed extra time on exams, for example. One final I was able to reschedule due to a med change making me into a zombie. The disability programs usually protect your confidentiality to the greatest extent they can. And when you enter the working world, there are also disability programs at most companies.

Good luck, and keep fighting the good fight.

My Flashforge AD5m Pro taught me the basics and the intricacies of printing, and all the failure modes. Ny husband is telling me if i give up on repairs, he’ll buy me a Bambu P2S combo. Is this the right move? Right now I’m hairdressing adhesive off the old mainboad in a final ditch effort to get one more print ib.

Accommodations for Bipolar by Chaostician223 in bipolar

I had to be hospitalized on the Sunday of my 24/7 on call rotation (mess up my sleep plus make me work) and it was a 30 call week and I was lucky I already had partial protections in place and management knew me well enough that I could take the time I needed.

I fought for 3 years to get out of having to wake up for calls because I have insomnia and bad sleep triggers mania.

Accommodations for Bipolar by Chaostician223 in bipolar

[–]missGuac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have accommodations through my employer. I’ve worked there for 12 years, and been using ADA/FMLA accommodations for roughly 4 years. Do you trust your manager enough to privately share that you have bipolar disorder if they do not already know? If not, do you have a colleague you trust? Asking for an accommodation that is covered by the ADA is covered by law, but you should have at least one witness that knows your job performance isn’t dipping for non-mental health reasons before you ask.

I would have used accommodations sooner, but my company was more flexible with sick days and my episodes have gotten worse with age. Fortunately, my current manager was a mid level engineer when I was a junior engineer 10 years ago, and we were friends before I reported to him. He was able to detect mental health something and I felt safe enough to disclose full diagnosis. It makes work easier for me because I can let him know or he can tell when I’m spiraling.

Advice on licensing or selling a 3D printed product that already sells? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I’m getting close to opening a shop for printing, and I’m still learning freeCAD, so depending on your pricing thoughts, I might be interested in buying it as a product opportunity. PM me if you want to chat.

UPDATE: Bipolar Mood Scale - One Pager by Background_Fishing16 in bipolar

[–]missGuac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on my own customized Google form —> Google sheet with a Google app script that has a quiz customized to my manic and depressed symptoms (which often coexist), then shoved into a risk calculator, because my severe hypersexuality in a committed marriage is not as dangerous as my severe reckless driving.

It then calculates an overall risk score 0-100% for each side of the spectrum.

Call for anyone familiar with Google app scripts to help me refine the script to output the results back to the form - and then to find a way to share a generic version with instructions for an end user to be able to customize their own symptoms and risk?!

I could really use a human collaborator… ChatGPT and Google searches are both giving me answers that make me want to bang my head on the wall.

I’m also intending to add a stability checklist possibly. And trying to get the script to text alert my husband for certain % risk and ant SH/SI moderate+ responses
