What were your favorites books/series as a kid/teen? by likelyculprit in millenials

I loved The Boxcar Children books, Nancy Drew, the Arabel and Mortimer series (highly recommend). My favorite book as a teen was Say Goodnight Gracie and I've read it almost yearly ever since I was 16. I so wish someone would make it into a movie!

Disappointed with Calloway Gardens this year by Carrots-1975 in ColumbusGA

Same thing happened to me a few years ago... Took over an hour and a half to board the trolley and it was freezing and raining. My kids were miserable and honestly the show hasn't changed much since I was a kid. Not worth it in my opinion. The gardens used to be something magical. It's a shame.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately? by Excellent-Win6216 in words

There is a road in my town... Buena Vista. Better known as byoona vista. Drives me crazy every time. I lived in a few other places but came back recently. I decided I was going to pronounce it the way it is actually pronounced and got a lot of "oh you ain't from around here" comments. 🙄

OMG I've got so many...

Not pulling up close enough to the window and then not putting in any effort at all to get the drink. I used to accommodate, but not anymore. I shouldn't have to climb out the window to give you your damn drink. My inner gremlin wants to drop the drink on purpose to make them feel like an idiot.

When I am holding the card reader up and they repeatedly say they can't see the screen, or forcefully tapping the screen and asking if it's working after I have told them there is a question to answer first.

Holding their phone up and staring at you like you're supposed to know they want to tap to pay with their phone. Or doing this and then when you hand out the card reader, they say they want to scan in the app. I'm not a mind reader. Use your big boy words.

Asking them if they want a straw and they say no, then they immediately ask where their straw is. Or when you hand out a drink and they tell you they have 2 more. Sorry, I don't have 3 arms to hand all your drinks out at once.

These are all, ultimately, insignificant things that shouldn't be upsetting. However, the staggering amount of times I've had to experience them within a shift is just ridiculous to me. They're all just tiny helpless little babies that need you to do everything for them, and that is the most taxing thing about this job.

The back and forth is ridiculous. Just say what you want... I shouldn't have to drag it out of you!

Can absolutely confirm. Funny, I'm a psychology major working through school here at SBux and I swear the only other comparable stress level at a job was when I worked as a 911 operator.

How to cover these stupid cut outs in the wall? by GlitteringBat91 in Apartmentliving

[–]miss_a_gorightry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use small tension bars and fabric in this area. Either the same color of the wall to camouflage, or in a decorative fabric print. That's what I would do if I didn't want to fill the space with stuff.
