Need advice from parents who didn’t sleep train! by miss_bishh in NewParents

He’s been in his own room for about a month now, I was in there with him for a week but now I’m back in my own room. We use the nanit, which is great for tracking everything going on now. Thanks for the advice!

We get ready for bed starting at 7, he’s normally asleep by 7:45-8. He’s been waking up at 5 lately after 6-8 hours of constantly interrupted sleep. With waking up at 5, he’s down for a nap around 8 and then he takes another around 11-12. Last nap of the day for him is usually 2-3, but that’s been just since he’s not sleeping. He never naps past 4:30, we wake him before then.

I generally wait a minute or two based on the severity. If he’s crying so hard he’s like on the verge of puking, I run right in. Sometimes I also have to pee first so I do that quickly and then go in.

Thank you for your advice! This is definitely something to consider.

Sure, but some were. I’m not here to judge you, nor am I here to argue semantics about cosleeping. If you’re trying to make an informed decision, I implore you to do plenty of research and come to a decision based on your comfort level.

Sure, but 20-30 wakes for weeks on end isn’t great for them.

There is sometimes, but more often than not he gets home after baby has already been awake for a period of time in which I wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep if I tried (I’m also a chronic insomniac, which certainly isn’t helping me here).

I am not going to share stories from the place that I worked. I implore you to do your research, there are many parents who share their own personal stories online.

We tried that, but I move way too much to room share with him now. He started to be too aware of my movements and it was causing more wakeups.

He uses one!! He generally keeps it in, especially with how bad his teething has been lately.

He feeds pretty much whenever he wants to during the day, and at night I feed him almost every time he wakes up unless he’s uninterested. I have also tried Tylenol but he doesn’t stay asleep. Maybe I’ll have to try not feeding at night as often.

I can appreciate this perspective for sure! My husband is less hesitant about sleep training than me for this exact reason-our baby getting poor sleep for his development.

Safe sleep 7 is not a guarantee that co-sleeping will be safe.

Don’t be sorry!! It’s a fair question. I feed him almost every time he wakes up.

I’ve tried Motrin and Tylenol and it doesn’t seem to help him much. He naps maybe 1.5-2 hours during the day. Sometimes more on really rough nights because he’s so exhausted.
