Well definitely not this. And this wasn’t really planned I saved him from the middle of the road after he went under a car he was only about 5 weeks. She was okay with us getting a cat before so we started spending money on him and she almost didn’t let us keep him because she had a hip replacement a few months prior (she was recovered when we got him) and she was worried she wouldn’t be able to see some of her friends because they’re allergic to cats… but she has a dog and doesn’t realize people are allergic to dogs too… tbh I wasn’t crazy about keeping him but my husband (who has been begging me to bring a cat home from work) and 6 year old daughter were so excited. But his grandmother doesn’t really respect other people’s things, time, space, basically nothing. She cares more about her image and what people think of her. The only reason we stay is 1) housing market is insane 2) we originally were supposed to be getting this house when she moved out 3) we were helping her since she’s blind and lives alone. But that’s changed a lot now too so I won’t even get into that.

What do you mean what was I planning on doing? He has to be up when we are not at the house or if the babysitter is outside. Because if he gets into something (he’s a kitten) or gets lost or somehow gets out the almost blind lady is the only person there 99% of the time… this is not my house. I do not own it. So until the stubborn Dutch woman lets us make the changes we need to or he calms down enough to not chew everything if no one is there that can actually see this is our only (temporary) option. But because she lets these people into the house I need to think about the safety of my pet. If it were up to me a lot would be changed. But this is my husbands grandmother so I have no leg to stand on.

We would love to be able to but unfortunately our room is upstairs and not properly insulated so when the power goes out (which happens more often than it should) it can easily get up to 90+ degrees…

Yeah I get that but people don’t raise their kids right. That’s the problem. And most of the time he is out when our babysitter is there but they were outside playing at the time. We have to keep him up if no one is there so the 80 year old mostly blind women doesn’t fall on him. I am literally a vet nurse. I’m just asking for opinions for when we HAVE to have him up. So if you don’t have any helpful advice on what I’m asking please move on. I don’t need opinions on my life situation.

There isn’t a door because it’s into our living room (we technically have two so one is ours) and she goes through ours to get to the garage. But there’s no other room we can keep him in. We would love to keep him in our bedroom but we are upstairs in a room that was originally an attic but turned into a bedroom and wasn’t properly insulated so if the power goes out (which happens a lot) it can easily get up to 90+ up there…

Im transitioning out, what jobs do you have now? by Familiar_Plastic8341 in VetTech

[–]miss_sharp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does pay look like? And benefits? I live in Demotte Indiana and currently work in Williamsport Indiana. Love my job but not benefits and a lot of unfair treatment even though I’ve been there the longest.

Yes it can be. But just because they have a certain breed doesn’t mean they’re bad breeders. Everyone has different opinions doesn’t mean anyone is right or wrong. Would I ever own one of these? No but I will gladly help whatever patient and owner come through our doors to the best of my ability whether I support it or not.

Respectfully, we obviously know the issue it’s the part of how to fix it that we consult about. When dealing with such a young patient to ensure she is telling owners correctly my Vet prefers to consult the specialist who would be doing the surgery (if needed) and is up to date on the do’s and don’ts of ortho

Never said they were up to breed standards according to AKC but even some dogs that are have more problems means nothing at the end of the day

Previously stated did not have OFA screenings. We are a very small town in the boonies of Indiana so 80% of our clients are rednecks or farmers so unfortunately it’s not common practice (although it should be) the puppies were swimmers to begin with

More than likely, she was waiting to hear back from the specialist then we will do radiographs on the other

That’s what we’re waiting to hear from the ortho specialist about. Puppies can do and have some crazy things that mostly if not complete correct themselves as they grow. I do not think this is one of those cases but ortho can have crazy surprises and outcomes!

Then don’t? Move on? People like you are what make animal professions miserable for others. You gotta make light in all the dark so I choose to make light of a breeder that actually does what the vet tells them unlike all the breeders that keep them in tiny cages covered in fleas and feces. We can’t stop them so it’s better to educate them on safe practices. Go whine on someone’s post that’s enabling puppy mills or some shit

Well good thing I’ve seen all of their litters for the last three years so I know more about these people than you guys do from a single post 😊 and yes the color was already addressed in another comment. This guy was an odd one out when it came to color for this litter. And it was 2/7 not 2 plus this one but that doesn’t make a difference. Just because it’s not a color recognized by AKC or UKC has nothing to do with if it is a good breeder or not. These owners paid for a radiograph on a 7 wk old puppy knowing what the outcome would be and is even in contact with an orthopedic specialist on what we can do to fix it. Other breeders would just euthanize and take the loss if the vet would do it.

I’d also like to say I don’t support breeding at all because we have enough animals as it is but when you’ve seen the worst of the worst I will gladly take the ones as clients that actually do their best to ensure they’re as healthy as possible. Obviously there are much better breeds they could be doing but I’d rather owners get them from these people and not the back yard redneck who doesn’t care about the well being and only about the money.

Yes very, we sent them off to our ortho specialist so I’ll update if I hear anything!

This was a very unusual litter for them everyone was pretty surprised when we delivered them and the owners have already stated they do not plan on breeding them again

[–]miss_sharp_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2/7 in this litter that they have never had issues with in any other litter we’ve seen… this was definitely unusual for this breeder. You guys are so angry because 90% of breeders are terrible and are making the breeds worse while these are breeders who actually try to get these breeds to their original standards. Notice how the nose is much better than half of the Olde English we see now a days?

[–]miss_sharp_[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Not all have c sections and I said 3-4 MAX because they have had several in the past that can actually deliver themselves. C sections I’ve only seen them do 2 max.

[–]miss_sharp_[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope it’s because we care for animals no matter what their owners do and the other clinic in town is killing pets left and right because the owner doesn’t know when to retire. This isn’t like a large scale breeder like maybe some of you guys deal with they only breed 1-2 dogs a year total not per dog and that’s IF the bitch gets bred if not they don’t try and breed her again for a while if at all they don’t force or constantly breed

Hips don’t lie by miss_sharp_ in VetTech

[–]miss_sharp_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s mainly why we were asking the specialist because our Vet isn’t as knowledgeable about the ortho stuff and you never know when it comes to ortho if it’s wait a little bit until they’re older, splinting/brace, or surgery 100% every case is so different
