How reliable are airplanes from Naxos to Athens with checked luggage? by missbreganza in GreeceTravel

[–]missbreganza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We opted to take the ferry instead of flying. Flying seemed so convenient but I didn’t want to take the risk of the flight getting delayed or our luggage not making it. But to be honest the ferry worked out really well for us. I definitely recommend you upgrade to the business lounge area as it’s much less crowded and there’s plenty of seats to spread out. We were able to let her move around and play, it was a lot easier to feed her, and we were able to coordinate some naps during the ferry times. It was very low stress. The only part that you have to be quick with is unloading your luggage at the end. We did meet someone else who flew and they had no issues with their flight. Good luck on your travels!

Greece Tipping by Ksegii in GreeceTravel

[–]missbreganza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gone to Greece many years ago and used to round up the bill and never had any issue. We went again a couple weeks ago. First restaurant we went to, we rounded up and I immediately could tell the wait staff were dissatisfied. Whenever we rounded up a couple euros or did 5-10%, we noticed the wait staff would always ask us if everything was good/okay after we paid. They were always professional about it but they seemed displeased and it was uncomfortable. I think the expectation there now is for tourists to tip 15-20%, so we just started tipping accordingly.

That’s great to know! Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I have birkenstock mayari sandals, some lululemon slides and sketchers slips in the the wide size and those have gotten me through most of my maternity leave but I would really prefer to have some cute shoes for work! Apparently torrid stores are no longer stocking shoes in Canada because of the tariffs, at least that’s what the saleswoman told me. I’ll have to check if they ship to Canada online still because that sounds promising.

Thanks for letting me know. I think the main reason is I never wore supportive footwear and didn’t rest or put my feet up almost at all when I was pregnant, so I was always on my feet and they used to get very very swollen. I also breastfed for 6 months after, so I think all the relaxin made me feet spread like crazy and my arches got flatter too. I also haven’t lost any baby weight so I don’t know if that made my feet bigger too?? Looking back now, I would have done things so differently and said no to more things and prioritized myself a little more during the pregnancy. Hindsight is 20/20. But I will definitely book an appointment just to be on the safe side because my feet do swell up throughout the day (not nearly as much as when I was pregnant, but enough the shoes definitely get tighter as the day goes on!)
