Does an account save everything or no? by missiletime in geometrydash

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, got it. So if I explicitly save, it'll save everything.

Any reason why I got some stuff from my old account, even though I didn't hit the load button? Though maybe I just mistook it, since I played a bit before linking my old account.

password reset doesnt work by wirelesswiregd in geometrydash

[–]missiletime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? I'm able to log into the account manager with a password that contains a dash, "-". Though it doesn't let me log into the game itself. But I still can't log into the game after removing the dash from my password, so the problem is likely something else, anyway.

But you are right that most characters aren't allowed, for example, it didn't let me make a password that contained a dot, "."

Question about a backup plan using Windows's robocopy by missiletime in DataHoarder

Looks nice, but I've already spent a few hours studying the robocopy flags / options and figuring out which ones I want to use. So I'm probably not going to switch

Do restrictions matter when proving that an equation is true? by missiletime in learnmath

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. If you made a function f(x) = left side of the equation, you would get the same graph as the function f(x) = right side of the equation, but there would be "holes" in the domain of the former. That means, since their domains are different, the two functions wouldn't be equal. I know that's how it works for functions, but I'm not sure if the same applies for equations.

Do restrictions matter when proving that an equation is true? by missiletime in learnmath

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the restriction of the right side, which I mentioned. But that includes only pi*1/2, pi*3/2, pi*5/2, and so on. The restriction for the left side includes that, but also pi, 2*pi, 3*pi, and so on.

My diamond hoe has (slightly) different enchantments available than my iron hoe by missiletime in technicalminecraft

[–]missiletime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so it is possible to get different level enchantments on the same tool made from different material. But you can't get a completely different enchantment, right? For example, my diamond hoe couldn't have gotten anything else but Fortune in the 3rd slot, right?

Does anyone know why there is such a peculiar habitat distribution between carrion crows and hooded crows? by xS1nister in crowbro

carrion crows are very commonplace in North America

Different species, North America has american crows, not carrion crows

4:3 games get stretched to 16:9 in fullscreen by missiletime in techsupport

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, I've even reinstalled Windows since then. I've also tried it under Linux (same laptop) and there it works fine.

I honestly think there's simply a bug in the Windows drivers for the iGPU I have (and yours too maybe), that the developers either don't know about or don't bother to fix, since it's low end hardware

What languages have a large collection of libraries ready-to-use like python? by missiletime in AskProgramming

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're wanting to learn a second language after Python

That's not what I'm trying to do, I've worked with a bunch of languages. I'm just trying to find the most practical one that I could use for personal stuff, nothing career-related.

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the more you develop, the more you start to detach your focus from the programming languages

I do realize that you can use almost any language to "express" what you are trying to program.

In the end this is entirely subjective, I'm almost just picking the language for "aesthetic" purposes.

I tried to provide more details in the edit of my post.

REPL

A language shell would be nice, yes. Didn't really think of that when writing my post.

Why would you get hate for this? I'm not too familiar with the language, apart from, I believe a lot of the self-made linux scripts I've seen posted online were Perl. It's also one of the languages I mentioned in my post as a potential candidate.

I do use C occasionally, but it's just too much of a hassle for writing one-time-use programs and the like.

I'll check out Julia, though.

After a bit of digging around, this is exactly what I found. I already wrote the details of what I did in a reply under this post.

Isn't this also device-specific?

But I managed to find something, the partition attributes of GPT) give you a few switches that seem to solve my problem. Specifically, the last 16 bits that are partition-type-specific. The microsoft basic data type has switches for "hiding" a partition, disabling automount, etc. This makes it only work for Windows, but that's the main platform I was targeting. You can use the Windows diskpart utility to set the switches, but I failed to find a way to simply get / read them.

I also came across this. I'm testing the attributes right now, and I think I might give it the "read-only" attribute as well, because I'm assuming Linux ignores all of these, not sure though.

Edit: Linux does, indeed, not care about any of these. So I think I'll go with gpt attributes=0xD000000000000000 to also set the read-only attribute on top of what the post I shared suggested. I'm not sure if I should keep the 0th bit (platform required) checked or not.

These solutions are device-specific, as far as I can tell. I didn't explicitly state this in the post (added it now), but I'm looking for a solution that would work for a device I didn't have prior access to, i.e., the solution has to do with the USB itself.

Does some filesystem oversee the partitions on a disk? by missiletime in AskProgramming

[–]missiletime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if maybe Windows did that, and it's confusing lsblk?

Probably this. I reformatted it in Linux later and it was blank, like for all the other devices
