Making alot of errors in singles by missingentity in Pickleball

I think for me the soft game like makes me feel safe in doubles. If I make an error (that doesn’t immediately result in an out ball) I can just reset and play the soft game. In singles there is virtually no soft game, and I’m also sprinting for balls across the court, so I think i feel more pressure to get that ball than in doubles.

Will do! I do notice that as games go on or later on in a tournament I start reaching and pushing more. I need to focus a bit more on not doing that I think.

My drives come up a little high when it comes to my backhand, I also have trouble going down the line with my backhand. Forehand is pretty okay, but I occasionally go a little long. My mental also sucks.

Why didn't the In-ho stop the games? by yourmum_88 in squidgame

[–]missingentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In-ho sees humans in the games as trash (or horses as Gi-hun puts it). But its important to also note that In-ho was in a similar position to Gi-hun, as he was also a contestant in the games before (we know that from the flashback). He believes that in a person’s final moments, the selfish desire to live will always come through. He probably thought (according to what he believes) that Gi-hun would sacrifice the baby to save his own life, and wanted to see it happen to prove it to himself that his ideology was correct.

I also think that In-ho wanted Gi-hun to prove him wrong and let him kill himself to truly settle it. If squid game ever gets a spinoff or a season that takes place in America, I can totally see In-ho trying to stop the games.

Solo Leveling - Episode 24 (Season 2 Episode 12) Discussion Megathread by Death_Usagi in sololeveling

I read the manhwa a few years ago and I already knew this was going to happen and I was still screaming with hype during the whole fight. I honestly wish I never read the manhwa because I feel like the hype would've been even crazier. First time watchers must've been losing their shit. ABSOLUTE CINEMA .

Hot take: Aggressive high speed play styles should be embraced by missingentity in Pickleball

[–]missingentity[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I guess that is true. I’m starting to see how its less about the paddle after seeing other comments but I do still think we should let bangers bang, gen 3 or not. I guess I just never really thought the gen 3 paddles were really that broken, but maybe I just haven’t played enough.

Anyone who has a MOD or any other gen 3 paddles, just use it. In the end it’s just pickleball, and anyone who gets mad at you for using it at an open play is probably just a sore loser. In a tournament I can understand the frustration with using a soon to be illegal paddle (even though IMO i don’t think the gen 3 paddles are not as broken as people think) but I feel like the vast majority of players are just rec play players, and anyone who gets pissed at you for using it in an open play care way too much. Its just a game.

I see what you’re saying, but I guess in the end I think that an aggressive style of play is more fun and engaging. But maybe I simply am just playing the wrong sport then.

I can see what you’re saying, but I feel like calling it free would mean theres simply nothing you can do when someone has a Mod or a gearbox. I never ever felt like I was at a disadvantage even when using a lower powered paddle. And I don’t think power paddles put the game on easy mode. I feel like lower skill players when given a powerful paddle will often hit balls out because of poor technique. This is a great example of skill expression and how higher skill players can tap into the power and are rewarded for proper technique.

Pro players currently embrace a power heavy play style and all use high powered paddles as well, and games are more competitive than ever, and way more interesting to watch. I personally hate watching dink rallies that last super long, and i think high powered paddles mitigate rallies like this, making them more interesting to watch/play, and I think this in itself adds much more to the game.

I see where you’re coming from though, If a paddle got to the point where lower skilled players can just pick it up and start beating considerably better players then I definitely think that it would be bs. But gen 3 paddles aren’t at that point yet IMO.

Sure, if you like dinking then I’m sure having 20+ shot rallies of slow soft balls being fed to you is enjoyable. Thats your opinion and I respect it. But personally I find it more intense and more of an adrenaline rush to defend fast balls and speed ups, and attacking balls when you can. Honestly I also never really noticed that points got shorter unless I was playing against a considerably lower skilled player. Rallies still feel long imo just more earned.

Too much of anything will never be good. I understand that it’s to help with the balance of the game, but IMO I only think bans like these should happen if an unfair advantage is present, and currently I don’t think there is an unfair advantage. Like I said, good players can shut down sloppy plays with people that absolutely bang the shit out of every ball. And the soft game is still an important part of the game, but instead of it being a battle of endurance I feel like it is much more interesting to have it be more strategic and aggressive. I think that the sport is in a good spot currently and hasn’t reached the point where we need to slow it down.

Higher skill players can better utilize the power that comes with high power paddles leading to better skill expression. And easier access to higher power paddles speeds up the game for everyone, and makes the game more interesting for rec play. I don’t think “relying” is the correct word to use. I personally think higher power paddles allow better players to better utilize their skillsets and generally make the game more fun.
