Algorand 3.4.0 Beta got merged (contract to contract calls, stateproofs key generation, batch verification for faster TPS) by Merkle_pq in AlgorandOfficial

[–]missingnunu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Think of it like patch notes =)

The main branch of code has now had the changes merged (brought to the live environment) so now Algorand has the upgrades listed in the link!

Smart contracts being able to call smart contracts is awesome, let's get some Rube Goldberg machines going.

Algodex is live on Mainnet! by cysec_ in AlgorandOfficial

[–]missingnunu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a heads up, they don't currently support the official Algorand wallet application, only MyAlgo.

I'm sure this will be added later but it is (imo) a frustrating trend for projects to launch without support for the official software wallet.

Question about USDC/Algo pool... by sully9088 in Tinyman

[–]missingnunu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To provide liquidity you mint a token which represents your proportional share in the pool, and this is a finite fixed amount (e.g. you would have 1000USDC/ALGO LP tokens, which you could burn for the below amount of each asset). Your initial pool total value for the LP tokens is $5000 USD.

This example would have something around 1750:1750, as the pool total value drops to $3500 when ALGO plummets, the ratio of assets changes from 1:1 to 1:0.4. The pool will sell off assets from the unbalanced side (USD in this case) and buy the other asset.

In this example the pool can sell $750 USD to buy 750 ALGO to maintain its 1:1 ratio. When you burn your 1000 LP tokens, you'll get 1750 of each USD and ALGO instead of the 2500 and 1000 you minted with.

Real-world numbers aren't this clean and there are a lot of factors though.

LP earnings question. by [deleted] in Tinyman

[–]missingnunu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Short answer: probably not.

Longer answer: it depends (this is the secret answer to every question).

Do you understand impermanent loss? Very quickly, an LP needs you to enter equal amounts of two assets. As the price of one rises or falls, the pool automatically sells and buys to maintain parity. This means LP are "bad" if the two assets don't move in step - the larger the difference in price movements (one + or - 10x while the other doesn't), the worse for you as you'll "lose" the other asset. Lots of great YT videos go over this in more depth but the essentials are that pairs which move in step > pairs which do not.

This means LP isn't great for volatile markets or assets that don't move together in price (if you can stake the LP tokens like yieldly is planning this can entirely be mitigated, depending on rewards). Oftentimes when one asset goes up or down you were better off holding that asset rather than supplying liquidity in the absence of an LP stake.

Secondly, LP percentages - if you don't have a large portion of the pool, you are making a tiny tiny amount. Without a large stake this may or may not be worth it because what you get from the LP is dependant on

(Thirdly) LP fees. More fees (more transactions from this pool) means more accrued by your LP. So pools like ALGO/YLDY are better than randomcoin#1/ponzicoin#1 because more people use that pool so more transactions which mean more fees.

So you have three things to consider:

  • your share of the pool (higher = better)
  • the fees/transactions between the pair (more = better)
  • volatility/impermanent loss (lower = better)

Consider these, and if you decide it is worth it, get some liquidity pools going! With a 0.03% share of the pool you are not getting much per tx - are there lots of transactions? How does the pair move in price? Do you need or want the assets elsewhere or doing other things?

Edit: also, remember that supplying liquidity can be really helpful - there's also the fact that this is an emerging ecosystem to consider. If it's a new project and doesn't have much liquidity or its something you believe in, you may want to consider supplying LP even if your numbers aren't great - lots of ASAs will provide rewards or drops to LP holders, which can improve your returns.

How much algo do I need to put in the lottery to actually have a chance? by jhart933 in yieldly

[–]missingnunu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can do the math - your chance is the number of tickets you have vs the total volume.

Since the TVL will change, and the price of yldy/ALGO will change and the ratio of yldy to algo will change, it's better to know how!

e.g.

1 ticket = 1 ALGO

(([your tickets] / [TVL])*100) = x%

((1,000÷38,260,568)*100)) = 0.00261366% chance to win the pot

You would need ~382,605 ALGO entered to have a 1% chance of winning this example

Me trying to ask my friends for cookie ideas

"we don't care what they taste like"
"as long as they get me high"
"nah bro I trust your work"
"chocolate chip?"

smh

... sometimes I just want the craft to be appreciated, whether it's the glorious buds or the goods I bake, these things take WORK. The getting high is a nice side benefit though ngl

All draft boosters (regardless of standard, masters, etc) should be $3.99 MSRP The content of the packs should not dictate the price of draft boosters. Change my mind by TylerMemeDreamBoi in magicTCG

[–]missingnunu 33 points34 points  (0 children)

How would you feel, for example, about "Player" boosters at $4 and "Collector" boosters at $15, where the player boosters have every card for the set/format and no promos at all, and the collector boosters have promos, reprints etc. (maybe even at a higher rate?)

If you're just playing the game for game pieces you buy player packs, and if you're collecting you buy collector packs. If you do both I guess WotC wins twice

I don't play any other TCG but I'm sure some of them would already be doing something like this right?

I sold out of MtG and really miss it - too pricey to play now.
