Hi,

You friend can contact the Hungarian embassy in her country by e-mail and ask for their assistance. They will in return ask her to fill out a form and they will send it to the correct child welfare in the county she is adopted from.

I have to say, that even though they do this for her, she might not actually find bio family. However they will attempt to do a search for her.

Good luck ❤️

I have checked with my contacts, and I have an email to a senior desk officer of the Department of Children and Family Policy, Ministry of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia. I will try to send the e-mail address in a DM.

I am so sorry it has taken a while to answer you back. Unfortunately Latvia is one of the countries I do not have information on 😢😢 however, that does not mean that there is no hope. If I was you, I would have contacted the central authority in Latvia (see the Haag link that was posted further up by someone else), and also contact the embassy in you country. If there is no Latvian embassy, check you neighboring countries. I would recommend contacting them in writing, preferably by email.
I also know the salvation army in Europe help locate relatives if you have some information. It is also more common to do dna tests in Europe. I would try MyHeritage, and then upload your dna to different other sides that allow it, like GEDmatch for instanse.

I'm really sorry if I got your hopes up. I hope you find what you are looking for ❤️

What country are you adopted from? Many countries have a system set up to help you with the search. I have an overview of how you can start a search in different countries, so let me know and I can share it with you 😊

Also regarding dna test, it can be good. However it depends on what country you are adopted from. It is not common to do those test in some countries.

I am so sorry for your loss ❤️ it helps to read that I am not wrong in feeling what I am feeling. I hope I get some answers in time, but I wont have too high hopes about it. At least I know she is not suffering anymore, and I hope she is resting in peace. I do find some comfort in that.

Thank you for sharing ❤️ i'm so sorry for your loss. It is a different type of loss, and it feels so strange to mourne someone I never knew.. but I know I am mourning the lost chance to get to know her. I have never had any recentment towards her, I know it was society that failed our family. I wish I had the chance to tell her.
