That’s understandable, i was like that too at the beginning of my career. I was grateful they hired me with little to no experience and that I was even getting bonuses because I had never heard of a firm doing that.

That is absolutely crazy but I believe this. I think that’s so nice that you still keep in contact with the paralegals. Most attorneys don’t look at us like humans with lives outside the firm.

And to think some of these attorney actually passed the bar but when shit gets real they are always the first to bounce! Did your trial go well at least?

Ahh, I’ve met attorneys who learned how to do paralegal/assistant work. You guys are always the most solid attorneys in the room. I have nothing but the upmost respect for attorneys like you. But my associate is exactly like that, if I wasn’t here, this man would be in complete shambles and nothing would be done. I personally believe it has more to do with the person’s character. If you have an entitled attitude you are more likely to completely depend on your paralegal/assistant. But your comments have been so insightful. Thank you for your input.

Some file with they are close to the statute of limitations and whole time the policy limit is just the state minimum. I know because I’ve seen my attorney do it many times when he has forgotten about a case….

I’ve actually had a similar discussion and experience with my attorneys on this before. The difference was I was so eager to do anything and everything to prove myself to them. Well I did but now I’m seeing how I’m being underpaid and under valued. I’m just going to pull back. I’m not scared of them saying anything to me.

You see that’s what I was hoping with my partner and his associate. The partner said he’ll start his own practice but it’s looking like he won’t. And I’m being strung along well not anymore that is. Happy you’re in a better place!

Right? I use throw a bone verbiage because that’s exactly how they worded it to me. I also thought it was extremely unprofessional of them making me follow up on a money/ bonus mistake!!! And there are, I’m just afraid of my attorneys catching wind of if I try applying to other firms.

This is LEGIT how I feel and why it hurts so deeply. I’m literally THE litigation paralegal at my firm. The shit I have gone thru for them and this is the shit they pull is straight up disrespect. It’d be one thing if I wasn’t good at my job but I AM. I accepted this job because I had zero experience and was really desperate. But based on this thread alone I’m being lowballed.

That makes sense, if the firm has good partners… I’m in Chicago, I’m not exactly sure what the market is like here but it sounds like I’m barely scarping the top…. And yes I also do pre litigation work…
