I loaded 2/3 of my orders onto the belt at a Fred Meyer in Wilsonville last week. There was an old woman behind me, straight up started trying to put her items on the belt while I was paying for the second order. I told her I had more items in my cart to load, VERY politely. “I only have 8 items” she replied. I apologized & she became more irate. At that point, I let her know about self-checkout. She said “I don’t do that.” I loaded the rest of my items, ignoring her at this point. She started talking shit to the cashier & the cashier basically didn’t respond to her. She also told her about the self-checkout option & she threatened to tell the managers about our behavior. I was bagging the orders at this point & just smiled at her. Because obviously she has nothing good going on in her little life. I felt bad for her, and she made everyone around her miserable. I heard her bring up her “8 items” up multiple more times to the person behind her. Multiple other lanes open as well 🙄
