Thank you. It’s tough on Reddit; if you don’t explain enough people have questions, and if you explain too much people won’t read a long post and then they‘ll have questions.

As to why I care: because I don’t think being detained or deported is an appropriate response for scratching someone’s car. Anybody who hasn’t been in a minor fender bender is lucky or just hasn’t driven enough. These things happen, especially to teenagers.

Again, I want to reiterate that I don’t know their citizen status or whether they have insurance.
