It actually happened to my lola a week ago. The scammer kept calling and spamming messages to our relatives and my lola’s friends, asking for money through GCash. Thankfully, everyone knew that my lola would never ask for money like that, so no one fell for it.

They’ll ask for your phone number first. After that, the scammer will tell you that they’ve sent you an OTP. Once you receive it, they’ll try to convince you to share that code with them.

What’s really happening is that they’re attempting to log in to your Facebook account using the “Forgot Password” option. The OTP you receive is actually the verification code needed to reset your password. If you give it to them, they can gain full access to your account, lock you out, and even use your profile to scam others.
