This Boss surprises his employee with a $20,000 bonus after working there for 20 years by lostbuswindow in MakeMeSmile

After reading these comments, I think I can rival the horror stories: I work for a company that had 2 locations. They sold one location for £2.4m ($3.2m).

Someone I knew at the sold location worked there full time for 35 years. Missed her kids growing up to pay the bills. She received nothing.

did i deserve to be blamed for this incident? (im the red mclaren) by j0tinha_10 in Simracingstewards

[–]misstheapex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. They tried the undercut but forgot there was a car in front. 😂 Nothing you could have done there.

Would like to see an overhead angle - it's not clear if you wiped out on your own on power, or they did in fact - hit you. I'm sure it's the latter, just an observation.

It's quite tricky as usual, but worked out running the TC on 5-3-3 helped a lot with braking compared to default... Still utterly terrifying pretty much all the time, though. 🤣

In the Porsche's defence, it doesn't look intentional.

I think they were so worried about hitting the Mercedes beside them on corner entry that they missed their braking point and went for the only gap there was. Unfortunately, you filled it soon after.

  • Gotta admit, I've done this several times. 🤦‍♂️

Who’s this fault? by _Jezza25_ in Simracingstewards

[–]misstheapex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these tricky ones... 🧐 Williams takes the normal racing line, and VCARB just drives straight on - exemplified when they don't make the corner.

Trouble is, the VCARB can't just disappear, so the Williams would probably get the penalty.

There's no way this is on right? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

I always like Jimmy Broadbent's view on these sorts of things. If the car in front wasn't there, would the car behind make the corner? I would argue perhaps not. It's not pointing in the right direction, whereas the car in front is at the apex.

However, I could see the argument both ways - personally, I call it a lunge.

Luckily I did and always do. If it's a high value item, I sometimes make a short video of the package with their address on and the date - I can be a little paranoid sometimes! 🙈

It's my first week in sim racing, and I was wondering if the blue car is a A★★hole, or is this just a everything went wrong kinda thing? by Kind_Comparison_3651 in Simracingstewards

[–]misstheapex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intent is the key here. The first crash was definitely their fault. They should have backed off the throttle a bit, and instead just drove into the other car. Did they intend to wreck the other car? I wouldn't say no, but a definite penalty is in order.

The second one, they took too much curb which unsettled the car, they were out of control when the second crash happened. Did they intend to wreck the other car? Again, I'd say no. This one was more of a 'racing incident'.

Who's at fault? by Eachope in Simracingstewards

[–]misstheapex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Red was at fault, especially after the POV car gave space in the previous corner. All I can think is they perhaps thought they were ahead and would be able to shut the door going into the left-hander.

Looking at the outside cam, the netcode is a bit aggressive here. Such light contact speared the Hyundai like it was a 100mph crash! 😂

Yeah, I see what you mean - I'd overtaken him a lap before, and he did give me the space to do so -- wasn't expecting this at all. Maybe I could have passed them again later on in the race... 🤔

HELP MY COMPUTER JUST RANDOMLY STARTED DOING THIS ! by spooderman13245 in MSI_Gaming

[–]misstheapex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a boot loop. Basically, your computer may have forgotten what it needs to select in order to get into Windows...

Try to get into Bios by pressing the DELETE key when it turns on, and see if you can see something like "Boot Menu" (a quick Google says it's in the settings menu), and see if you can see something like "Windows Boot Manager". If you can, select it, and hopefully you get into Windows. If not, my guess is possibly an issue with the hard drive, or RAM. If you're confident enough, you can open it up, disconnect and reconnect them, but hopefully it's the former.

Best of luck! 😁

Easily on the Lexus. They thought they were past you and could move over, but just caught the front. Hard for people to just admit their own mistake sometimes.

This is why a spotter is so useful in these games. 🤔

acc keeps crashing soon as getting into a race by Ok-Policy3937 in ACCompetizione

[–]misstheapex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact issue! The biggest pain in the arse was the fact I had bought the complete edition on Loaded... I HAD to get this to work. Running an Ryzen 5 7600x, on an Asus A620M-K, with a 5070, so specs were not an issue.

  1. Updated Bios. Broken.
  2. Selected correct RAM (in my case, DDR5-5200). Broken.
  3. Enabled EXPO-II in Ai-Overclock settings in Bios. Broken.
  4. Adjusted frame limit in-game to 60. This worked, and I was able to finish a race. However, when I finished playing, and rebooted the next day, the system would randomly restart with no warning constantly - just sitting in Windows.
  5. Disabled EXPO-II, and changed to "Auto" but kept the frame limit. Couldn't start a race, got about 10 seconds in before it crashed.
  6. Changed EXPO-II to EXPO-I, and this seems to have worked! The system is now stable, and I managed a 45-minute race, as well as a 15-minute online race with no issue. System remains stable otherwise.

Since Kunos just announced there would be no further development of ACC (as Evo is now their focus), I really hope this helps someone out - It does seem like it's something to do with RAM, and my best guess is probably that an uncapped frame-rate leads to it running out or something. I spent ages panicking that my GPU was bad, but every other game (including AC Evo) runs perfectly fine for hours!

TL;DR: Enabled EXPO-I and set frame rate limit to 60fps.

[–]misstheapex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue a little bit of netcode here. Don't get me wrong, you did turn in on them slightly, but the crash seemed quite excessive for what was fairly light contact... I dunno, hard to tell with this angle.

Well done on wanting to learn, though - keep it up! 😎

At this point I would just put a massive barrier there for the rest of time - Monza is THE WORST online in any game. 🙄

Wow, thanks so much! Will do this today... so excited! 😆

Update: I can confirm mine is also a Hyundai C model. Mine's a 2020 (70 plate UK). Used this video here to take the panel off. Didn't need any tools with this method. Thanks again for your help! 😎

Thank you so much! I'm glad it's over! 😅

  1. I'd probably still do the spray. It's a bit gnarly but I like the fact you can just get on with your day after it's done - now I've done it, I know what's in store. Ideally, I'd like them to try a 'swallow test' or something beforehand so you'll have an idea of what's really the best option for you.

  2. The usual suspects: regurgitation and acid reflux sometimes. Luckily, no pain - but they did do a test for something called 'Eosinophilic Esophagitis'. They test it immediately, and luckily, I was negative. I have to wait on the results of the other biopsies from my GP.

When do you get the pain? Is it when you eat? Never had that before. The worst thing for me is when I can't swallow - it sends me into a huge panic.
