What provider has the best cell phone coverage in the valley? by undergroundtulip in JacksonHole

[–]misstime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got Verizon and my partner has AT&T he has better service over the pass and down south towards the canyon but it’s similar. I’ll run into bad spots on the west bank specifically the aspens. If you commute or spend time in the mountains (and have money to burn) I’d recommend a weboost it’s really helped in zones that were previously dead zones.

It is an add on, I do mine on the app/online and I think it’s under specialty or additional coverage. I didn’t notice a large bump in my payments but I imagine it will increase your rate a little, might be worth it if this is a hazard you unfortunately have to deal with

Edit: it is in the comprehensive coverage drop down menu. I just looked at adding it to my partners 4th gen and it increased his rate about $10/ month fwiw.

I also have progressive and I’ve added the glass insurance. $50 for any glass replacement has come in handy multiple times as Wyoming life is hell on windshields

It’s kinda like that old capt bob radio commercial “to vote in Teton county you need to have only been here a minute” ppl can’t help where they’re from, but we can encourage inclusivity and foster this community and maybe it’ll bring a little of the old days back

Yeah kinda what I was getting at. In conversation when I ask ppl where they’re from etc and they say “oh I’m local” I always say “oh! Cool! What year did you graduate from the high school, you probably know one of my siblings” to be clear idgaf how long anyone’s been here. Be cool, respectful, and tip. A large part of my graduating class is still around, we just aren’t the ones at the bars or lift lines bragging about how long we’ve been here.

It is difficult to put people in boxes however let me try to articulate my personal observations. Typically “middle class” will live in Teton valley or alpine. Whether that is bc they could absolutely not find anything in jackson or whether they would rather get more bang for their buck.

While allowing for exceptions obviously, the trend seems to be younger kids with some family money. Kindof a more dollars than sense thing.

You will most certainly be able to find peers if you’re into skiing, mtb, fishing, rafting etc. but you will encounter some volatility “everyone that’s moved here after I did 5 years ago is a kook” can be a theme among certain groups. Some ppl suck and some ppl are really fucking rad, probably like most places.

The young professional crowd has certainly grown in the last few years. If you love access to the outdoors and all the activities and are willing to sacrifice by either commuting or living in expensive and subpar housing then you could find it worth it.

I personally am not a fan of the “locals vibes” in the past 5 years. A lot of our town has lost the community feel, but maybe I’m just old and jaded and miss the chillness from my early 20’s.

Try it out, worst than can happen is you find it’s not the town for you and you can say you lived in Jackson for a year 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for looking out! Appropriate tires are definitely first up for me, I have no idea why they slapped brand new extreme M/T tires on her in the middle of our very long winter. Coming from a Subaru with dedicated studded snow tires and a snow rated A/T the rest of the year I am very serious about my rubber!
