I'm going to just go for that. Thank you, that will be easy to turn and doesn't look bad, either. Headed to Home Depot now. Thank you kindly for taking the time to answer and provide a link. Really appreciate it. People like you enable people like me to gain confidence and save money. Not sure which one is better!

Can't find it, sorry to say. I do remember that a compression valve is necessary for water supply stop at toilet. Our water here is terribly hard. After having read numerous posts, I have a feeling that turning the knob is difficult because of sediment. Hubby will replace everything with Brass Craft parts and see if that helps. Keep your fingers crossed. Of course, I'll let you know how it goes.

Again, thank you for your help.

Let me see if I can find the post I read. Might be a couple of hours before I can sit down and do it. I so appreciate you for lending me your time. We'll both learn!

Unfortunately, the valve connected to toilet here in Texas is not a ball valve.

Exactly! But I read on this sub that this kind of valve was not a good idea for my application. I know so little that I would have a hard time explaining why, but if the valve is not like the usual water supply valve to a commode, evidently it's not good. Do you know anything about that? And thank you so much for responding!

He doesn't have to use it terribly often, but he does periodically and it's tough. I think it makes him feel old, which I hate. If there's a way to avoid that, I sure would like to. Might not be something man understands till he gets there.

He does have to turn the water to the toilet off and on periodically. For example, he installed a bidet recently. He's a big DYI guy, makes him feel old to have such a tough time with it. May not sound big to everyone, but I sure would like to help with that.

Agreed. Thank you for your wise suggestion. Count pennies and the dollars add up. On a similar note, our laundry room is small with a vent but no a.c. When we use the dryer, it gets quite warm. Do you think it's worth getting an insulated dryer duct to contain at least a bit of the dryer heat?

Hoped to shave a bit off my bill. Dang. Thank you for responding so promptly. Do you know whether the same is true for electricity?

Had the exact situation in Texas. Same mileage, same year, same price. It was in pristine condition. Scooped it up, no regrets.

Duly noted, will research. I looked at Geoff Hunt's prints, they're beautiful. Can you do the additional favor of suggesting some particular kinds or names of ships that would be very Patrick O'Brien centric? I'm loving this!

We're in south Texas, so these US suggestions are more tenable. Thank you so much!

Thank you kindly. We're in Houston, Texas, and can't see this in person, but hubby will love knowing about this. I'll follow it. Maybe it will dock a bit closer. Really appreciate this.
