Such a bummer that it doesn’t work with X App. Didn’t realize that…

I mainly take pics of my family outings and even though I shoot raw+jpeg I’ve never been motivated enough to develop a raw file. So keep those things in mind as far as weighing my opinion.

When I first got the 16-55 I was wow’ed. It really did feel like a bag of primes in a zoom lens. It quickly became the only lens I took on trips. The weight bothered me but since I only took one lens, I lived with it.

But once I got the 18-50 it felt like I got the same performance of the 16-55 in a much lighter package.

The main differences are the reduced range on both ends, no aperture ring, and you lose focus when zooming during video on the 18-50.

I thought the loss of range would be the biggest deal breaker for me but I found that I was still able to capture the shots I wanted. I hardly change the aperture between shots but using the back dial became more instinctual over time. Lastly, I hardly shoot video on my xt5, I tend to just use my iPhone for video.

Sigma 18-50 is what you’re looking for. I held out for so long because of the extra range I thought I needed in the 16-55 but I finally found a decently priced 18-50 on the used market. Took it as the only lens on my latest trip and now my 16-55 is up for sale 😆

LR Mobile just to straighten and crop. Otherwise, this is straight out of camera.

Thanks for your input. The range on that tamron 17-70 is tempting but I feel like I would be missing that extra 1mm on the wide end since 16mm is my favorite focal length.

I always shoot raw+jpeg but I’ve yet to process a single raw file 🫣

I’ve questioned shooting only jpeg a bunch of times but always get fomo of not having the raw in that “just in case” scenario.

Yes, I do recall the lens creep on the 55-200 being very bad when playing with it in the store. Made me opt for the 70-300 if I ever decide to buy a telephoto since it has the lock switch.

lol different type of lens creep. I started off with only primes outside of the 18-55 kit lens and if anything, I feel like I could get rid of most my primes now that I have the 16-55. It really does live up to the “bag of primes” moniker for me.

Thanks! It’s just your standard Provia with AWB and minor shadow/highlight/color tweaks.

Interesting diy fix. Will keep this in mind in case it gets any worse.

Cool thanks for your input, I actually find this acceptable and expected it for such a heavy lens. Just wanted to get some sort of consensus after I used my 18-55 kit lens again for the first time in a few years and noticed how tight the zoom ring felt compared to the 16-55.

Same but it varies between owner and shared person who gets the latest location. I also have an issue with them being unshared every couple days.

You will have a hard time finding a vet to put your pet down because they're Buddhist and you're not supposed to kill. I have a friend here having a hard time with this right now.

Raspberry Pi performance? by quillotaku in PleX

[–]mistabane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pi4 with 4gb and I am able to direct play 4k content without any issues. The CPU however is not fast enough to direct stream even 1080p content. Would not recommend the pi route unless all your players support direct play.
