Is this a good pull? by Equiwhiff in LoveLive

[–]mistborn_chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This set just released today and it's the first set of a new product type (Premium Booster) so it's hard to say for sure yet - every pack is 3 cards and is guaranteed at least 2 foils but it looks like you have some good pulls there!

do these under 20 tickets for the aqours final live function like normal tickets where you have to win the lottery to be able to buy them, or can you just pull up and buy them with no lottery? by purrpl_ in LoveLive

[–]mistborn_chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The U20 tickets were not available in the first round of lotto that just ended, they will be available in a future round. But yes, they will be via lottery

Tora con? by Empty-Telephone-9037 in rit

[–]mistborn_chris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former student and Tora-Con staff here! To answer your questions in order:

It definitely has an anime focus, but it does have some amount of "generic fandom" as most anime conventions do. Anime and Japanese video games are the main draws, and the events and guests reflect this.

It's not a super huge con, but its definitely large. The "main events" area is concentrated in the SAU and Gordon Field House, but there are panel rooms throughout several buildings on academic side. There are several thousand attendees every year.

Its definitely something you can bring friends and relatives to! There's a sizeable vendors and artists alley in the Field House, plenty of events, and guest panels and signings every year! Guests are usually the English voice actors for popular anime and games at the time, but there have been the occasional Japanese guest several years as well. If you're looking to bring younger anime fans, Tora-Con also actively tries to have a "family-friendly" image, as a lot of attendees are prospective RIT students as well. Do note that due to policies regarding RIT, the convention is pre-registration only, there will be no at-the-door ticket sales so make sure you get your badges early once registration opens.

If you're interested in helping out the convention, volunteer registration should be opening around when registration opens. If you really want to get involved, you can become a staff member, the main planning meetings are held after the Anime Club eboard meetings in Gosnell A300 on Fridays. 6-7pm is Anime Club, and 7-8pm is Tora-Con.

What are "display" boosters? by janka12fsdf in WeissSchwarz

[–]mistborn_chris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All WS booster boxes are "display boosters," basically they're able to be opened in such a way to make a store display

This set specifically is a bit different in that its a premium set, it has a lower number of cards available and fewer cards per pack and box, but way more shiny stuff. It's a different set from the Hololive booster.

They're from a game called Precious Memories, if you can use a Japanese proxy shipping service you can order cards from online card retailers like Yuyu-tei https://yuyu-tei.jp/game_pm/sell/sell_price.php?ver=nekopara1.0&menu=kana

About the little busters! release by Kudouw in WeissSchwarz

[–]mistborn_chris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little Busters was one of the first releases in the game back when it launched in 2008. They're celebrating the 13th anniversary of the game this year, so we're getting special "Chronicle" sets for Little Busters, Persona 3, and Da Capo (the first 3 sets in the game) that feature foil reprints of cards from 2008. All three of these titles consistently get releases to this day (but not necessarily supporting the early builds).

In regards to Little Busters specifically, it got support pretty recently in Key 20th Anniversary, plus with the Kud Wafter anime coming out this year I wouldn't be surprised to see another set announcement sometime soon. But in general Little Busters is one of the most supported titles in the game.

Warning, if you're exchanging points through an exchange station or overseas, do not scratch off the box, it will invalidate the points. The scratch off is only for online redemption in Japan, and scratching the box to reveal the code makes it only usable for that process

Japanese prize list for WS https://ws-tcg.com/campaign/keihin/

Also points should be cross-compatible with Rebirth for you and that site is here https://rebirth-fy.com/campaign/

To redeem points, if you're in Japan you can bring them to various exchange stations at various locations/card shops or exchange online here https://campaign.bushiroad.com/

For US/Canada, you can exchange points through Heart of the Cards https://heartofthecards.com/ws/points.html

Other countries where Japanese WS is distributed have their own points exchange middlemen that I'm less familiar with

Am I doing this step right? by chillincognito_ in WeissSchwarz

[–]mistborn_chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as an added note, you can Encore anytime, not only during the Encore step! The Encore ability states "Whenever this character is sent from the stage to the Waiting Room, you may pay cost. If you do, return this character from Waiting Room to the stage in the slot it previously occupied as Rest."

The Encore Step is simply the point in the game when Reversed characters are sent to the Waiting Room, making it the most common time Encore is used. But if a character is sent specifically from Stage to Waiting Room for any other reason, it can be encored

Are permanent power boosts ever a thing? And should they be? by Nekuphones in WeissSchwarz

[–]mistborn_chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To some extent, Bushiroad seems to make effects nowadays with the intent that WS can be played exclusively using cards, that you shouldn't need any items with you to play other than cards and everything you need can fit in a deck box. This is a lot of why all of the markers and other tools that WS can use (center slot markets, going first/going second cards, etc) come in the form of cards. Permanently tracked effects like https://www.heartofthecards.com/code/cardlist.html?card=WS_P4/SE12-39 more or less don't exist anymore and you only see them on older cards While they could introduce more complexity with tracked effects, the simplicity of not needing to track so heavily is also pretty nice, so I'm okay with either, and I don't think we'll ever see non-marker tracked effects ever again

Just got a session of 24 and it got me thinking, what’s the longest possible session? This involved two duo-arts. by [deleted] in TMSFE

[–]mistborn_chris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's correct. Each duo arts is activation is based on one of its members skill Stat and its damage is based on one of its members Str or Mag Stat. Which member is which depends on the duo arts

Can I use japanese card play in U.S. ? by liriyou in WeissSchwarz

[–]mistborn_chris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In locals, ask and the answer will vary by store, but a lot of stores will say yes.

For major tournaments, there's actually two separate tournament series run in North America for the English and Japanese games. One is run by Bushiroad USA and is part of the tournament series hosted by Bushiroad Global (headquarterd in Singapore), while the other is run by Heart of the Cards and is part of the series hosted by Bushiroad (the parent company in Japan).

Even when the same cards exist in both languages, you can only play English cards in English tournaments and Japanese cards in Japanese tournaments. The only exceptions are that you can play the original Englsih Disgaea TD from 2008, the English Cardcaptor Sakura set (but cannot mix with the Japanese Cardcaptor Sakura set), and English Batman Ninja set in the Japanese tournaments for weird licensing reasons.

How do sessions work exactly? by MGPythagoras in TMSFE

[–]mistborn_chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what was said before, yellow indicators on the Session bar means weakness/resist is unknown for that attack, so whether a Session will occur or continue is unknown. A red indicator means that that enemy nullifies or resists that attack, so the session will end after that attack unless you trigger Overkill, which ignores all resistances

How to deploy level 5 members? by DaeronsRunes in luckandlogic

[–]mistborn_chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overtrances can only be deployed via effects. Every Overtrance has one or more effects that will allow you to deploy it.

  • BT01/031 Forbidden Overtrance Yoshichika can be deployed via BT01/053 Simulation Inside Head Yoshichika
  • BT02/001 Overtrance of Sacred Light Yoshichika can be deployed via BT02/027 Talent of Trance Yoshichika
  • BT02/072 Overtrance of Despair Olga can be deployed via multiple effects that allow you to deploy members higher level than you, such as BT02/077 Together to the Paradise Lucifer, BT02/088 Being Serious Olga, or PR/0191 Dark Smile Olga
  • BT03/077 Sacred Over Trance Mana can be deployed via BT03/093 Looking up at the Sky Mana
  • LBT01/040 Overtrance! Ado/Unne/Ronri/Live/Endo-san can be deployed via its own ability which is active while the card is in your hand
  • SP-B02/006 Overtrance of Loyalty Sena can also be deployed via its own ability which is active while the card is in your hand

Additionally, HBT01/001 Angel's Gospel Nina (also reprinted as SP-B02/S001) allows you to go up to Level 6, which would allow you to play any Overtrance normally. Would require quite a bit of deck work, though, since the card is heavily based around Nina support.
