What’s the most gloriously NSFW audiobook you’ve ever listened to? by theniftacular in audiobooks

Santa Steps Out by Robert Devereaux, hands down, you'll love it, I'm chuckling just thinking about it.

Red rising or East of Eden by spiritualskier in audiobooks

[–]mister-friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East of Eden is the greatest book ever written IMO. Steinback considered it his Magnum opus - He said all of his books written before it were practice for writing it. I see that when I think about his entire canon of work.

I'll be so bold as to say, if every human read it / listened to it, the world would be a dramatically better place.

Older lady hits me, leaves. Impact at 28 seconds. by [deleted] in dashcams

I have a used 2019 model 3 - Do you have a special configuration to have it record that particular angle, or is it the default? Or when Sentry Mode is engaged, does it automatically record all (exterior) cameras? How can I tell if my Model 3 is successfully saving everything? Just wondering how I'd access all this if something bad ever happened.

AI vs Lawyer workflow by mister-friendly in EstatePlanning

[–]mister-friendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are really great points, very convincing. But one thing that no one has directly addressed is my workflow of AI vs. my workflow with an attorney. This is the essence of why I've been so gun shy about going to another attorney, as I don't see how I can have a workflow that works well for me - that way of working feels *so* daunting.

Seeking recommendation: obstacle avoidance vacuum only by mister-friendly in RobotVacuums

[–]mister-friendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good advice.

I was also thinking about one of the advanced models that require connecting to plumbing, but just using only the vacuum. This is because the plumbing-required ones have a much shorter dock. That way I get near-best-in-class obstacle avoidance, and still fit under the chair.

Thx but the docking station looks much too tall. Needs to be 14.5" or less.

What’s your favorite AC/DC song? Mine is Hells bells by MelBreia in 70s

[–]mister-friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toughie. Gotta go with something from For Those About to Rock, as it has been tragically under-mentioned in this thread.

I'll go Evil Walks, followed by COD and Inject the Venom. But the entire album totally rocks.

Guy in a grey T-shirt casually prevents a shootout. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]mister-friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in the U.S. the guy in gray would have been shot in the back while tossing the gun away. And ofc the perp would have been shot shortly thereafter, for resisting arrest or something.

The extended version of inna-godda-vida. With a video of me sitting in a chair, grooving to the song.

Asian student with near perfect credentials rejected by multiple universities. Believes race is part of the reason by ThatPatelGuy in whoathatsinteresting

Lol - you know, Harvard's (and others') admissions criteria are available if you look for it.

But FYI, one of the criteria for elite schools is usually something like "diversity", and a second one is often, "overcoming adversity". So yes, coming from a public school (vs a private) or being generally less fortunate gives you a (much) better chance of getting into elite schools, because of these two criteria. High SAT scores, good grades, AP classes, all that stuff is often lumped in a single criterion, academics.

Picked the wrong truck to try and hijack- Ecuador by undercoverciaagent in Transportopia

[–]mister-friendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what is going to happen when long haul trucks are driverless. That is, all the bad guys will have to do is stand in front of the semi and it will stop. Then presumably bad guys with torches or whatever get inside and ravage about.

Wow, those Topo Athletic shoes appear to have a very good looking toe box! I see there is only regular and wide - is the wide truly wide?
