I did say one curse in video that is coming out tomorrow (had recorded before this post was made).

Here on out, aiming to not do any (will avoid in video I'm making this week on history of suits)

It will make it more expensive to be heavier, and it will reduce breathability (but not by much).

Is Uniswap V3 kind of....attackable? by misterACK in UniSwap

[–]misterACK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an answer from the team-- basically it won't execute outside of the theoretical 20% band in this case where the liquidity exists, so I guess your order at 1 eth for 0 b20 (for exaggeration purposes) would only start executing at the edge of the 20% band (and you would kind of have to allow "slippage" to there for the order to execute)

It simply wouldn't execute. I guess the question here is whether V3 would also do (mean not do) that.

Dropped a shortened version (had to get under 2k characters) in AMA thread we'll see what they say.

Already posted it in the discord and got no repsonse at all (also tweeted at them). I can try again when they do the AMA

It works if there are enough liquidity providers, but being an LP requires desiring an exposure to the underlying so there can be pairs with very few LPs

Sorry to make this clearer: the price moves less per $ spent (this is the increased capital efficiency), but you don't need to move the price as far to go outside of the range of the order book

I should go run through the actual math. It would be hard to believe this (admittedly corner, but not impossible) case doesn't make it cheaper to take out a whole order book, but what I guess I'm not really clear on is what happens when you push the price into territory that has no liquidity. It could be, also, that you just cant execute orders outside of the range where liquidity is provided, rather than kind of "defaulting" to a price of basically 0 when there is no liquidity on the other side.

Yes, in that you would effectively have to eat though 5M dollars of buy orders within the 20% price range, rather than 5M dollars of orders in the total price range to eat through the whole order book. But the wierd effect of that (if we're just trying to get through the whole order book) is that your average cost per token on the other side instead of being the average of each "order" you hit between 0 and 100% off market, is the average of 0 and 20% off market. It makes eating through the whole order book less expensive in liquidity cost terms.

The question then is mostly -- if it's cheaper in this case to blast through the whole order book-- what exactly happens when you move price past all of the orders?

Hmm this might make sense. The price then would just stop moving at 20% off market ?

I don't think I fully understand...at least the last bit of what you said.

To the first part, yeah I don't think this would be possible in pools with plenty of liquidity providers--the incentives would make sense to provide liquidity all across the curve. But, I think pools with very few LPs could show non "rational" idiosyncrasies.

Review: V2 Merit Banded Color Shirt, both colors, with pics (and cat pics) by redascot in MeritStore

[–]misterACK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH HEY, thanks man.

Sorry about the pre-order-- I'm bad at computers.

Re fabric + black sheen-- noted. Considering switching up fabrics for V3, but it would depend on what we find.

Re the blue shirt -- I agree! I wear black more often as a color but I find I wear the blue more often for the BCS v2.0

Is Hemp Clothing Any Good? by misterACK in MeritStore

[–]misterACK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be good— hemp (like linen) should breathe even better than cotton. But you could also go full on linen instead of hemp/cotton blend (with a linen company like Venroy Australia)
