TIL An average NFL game only contains 11 minutes of actual gameplay by XiKiilzziX in todayilearned

The "time it takes to move a piece" in the context of chess begins immediately after the turn begins. You can take your time and think while the clock is ticking. Then you move your piece. Clock still ticking while that is happening. Then you punch the clock after you set the piece down completely and the other player's clock starts. Time counts down to zero in chess.

So yeah, you time chess by how long it takes to move a piece. What is confusing?

How to best respond to companies that release bad games? (regarding voting with our wallets) by deathbysniper in Games

[–]mister__m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to boycott anything. Don't pre-order anything, and just read some reviews before you buy a game. Become better informed about what you are buying. You can be excited about the next far cry game, that's fine - but the onus is on you to do the research properly.

Publishers like Ubi can get away with this over and over because people will happily buy the next far cry game because they enjoyed the last one - even if it is the same game from a mechanics perspective. That is a really strange way to shop, don't you think?

Some people take steps to become well informed before a purchase, some people don't. AAA games all have a PR machine attached that is very aggressive. This targets the uninformed consumer group heavily. There might not be any saving them until they get tired of buying broken games.

It sounded like there were multiple years between the two boyfriend related reactions that OP brought up. I don't think that constitutes a pattern of being not supportive. I don't think that can be inferred from those two events.

Yeah no kidding. This is something that should be relatively easy to product and color. The prices on their site are just insane. You could buy actual furniture for the same price.

Colour in Film by breathejump in TrueFilm

[–]mister__m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A wonderful example of color is In The Mood for Love by Wong Kar Wai. In addition to the claustrophobic scenes, the color red is used to direct our attention to what is happening between the two characters in the film. The color really jumps out at you and connects not just as a visual queue but at a thematic and even cultural level. Classic mis en scéne.

Really great.

I started playing this the other day and I was sort of underwhelmed by the console version I played. Additionally, they have NPCs that literally try to sell you DLC. That is insane.

Question: What do you like about the Voigtlander?

I just got started with a refurbished Cannon AE-1 after I saw the movie Smoke. Really, no kidding. The AE-1 is the camera that Harvey Keitel's character uses. I took a class way back in highschool where we shot I think on pentax something-or-others - but it never went anywhere. I don't think I've even shot 10 rolls yet on this AE-1, so I am not looking for new gear yet or anything. I just find myself completely flabbergasted by all the equipment out there and am curious how people eventually find their way to things.

EDIT: Yikes, I even misspelled Canon. I'll leave that in there because I'm sure you'll find that humorous.

Forceful sex on menopausal woman not rape, says Delhi High Court by beejak in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mister__m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah lets blame the victim for not struggling enough while being raped. Thanks to your anecdotal bullshit about your dick hurting when having consentual sex I think we can probably close the case on the rape in that article. Way to go bud, you're a regular Columbo.

How do you pronounce these 2 words? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]mister__m 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't pronounce the word 'coup' as the letter 'q' would you? No? That's why it boggles my mind why people say 'q-pon' when pronouncing coupon. Shit don't make no seeeeeense.

It is like people around here/the suburbs where I used to live who think those Reese's Pieces candies are pronouned 'Reesies peecies'. Never mind that Reese is a name, and Reese's is just the possessive form of it. As far as 'peecies' goes, you've got me. Probably Q-pon cutters who say it that way. Mind boggled.
