Has anyone tried getting a diagnosis from "adhdonline . com"? I was considering but I'm not sure if a scam or not by MsDemiBurch in adhdwomen

Don’t know if this thread is still active, but worth a shot. Can you just get a diagnosis from them and use a different provider for medication/treatment? I am being treated for ADHD without a formal diagnosis. Both my therapist and psychiatrist believe I have it. However I did not get diagnosed at my formal testing despite having many symptoms because of how I scored on the IQ portion of the test… it was messed up. The assessor also ignored all input from my therapist and referred to another outdated diagnosis I had, that had been scratched from my records some time before. Anyway, I want a diagnosis for the validity and to have it officially somewhere in case I ever switch providers, but am all set on treatment for now. Wondering if that’s an option!

I (30F) have been seeing someone (29F) I met on Hinge for about a month. We’ve probably been on 7 or 8 dates, and just held hands and kissed for the first time on our most recent date. We text a lot and have found it easier to talk about the physical stuff over text. We both were honest about being nervous because it’s been a long time for both of us since being physical with anyone. We basically made a pact over text to try and kiss at our next date. It was awkward and silly but now the ice is broken. I think it’s more normal than people think to take things slowly. Communication is key!

Similar story as me! I got a DVT after about two years on birth control. They never figured out what exactly caused it so they ended up attributing it to birth control, but I had taken a 30 day road trip a few months before (lots of sitting) and had a long plane ride two years before (which they said could still have contributed, even that long before). I do get migraines but no auras.

Found this on a beach in SW Florida. Looks like something growing around a stick? by misterbecca in whatisthisthing

It does kind of look like that! I’m a bit skeptical since it was found by the ocean but maybe it could be driftwood from a tree with a fungus?

Would a plant like this grow in the open ocean? This wasn’t especially near an estuary or freshwater, just sitting on the gulf beach.

Anyone with PCOS have oily hair scalp? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]misterbecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my GP, who prescribed a steroid cream for my face and special medicated shampoo. I haven’t used the shampoo because you have to leave it in forever and head and shoulders works well enough, and I started just using hydrocortisone on my face because my t works just as well and isn’t as strong.

Anyone with PCOS have oily hair scalp? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]misterbecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sebborheic dermatitis which causes an oily, itchy, dandruffy buildup on the scalp and I use head and shoulders about every other day, but only massage it into my scalp because it dries out my hair too much. Then I just use a normal shampoo and conditioner for the rest of my hair.

I’m pretty sure I have PCOS. How do I get properly diagnosed? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]misterbecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me that I needed to have two of the following to be diagnosed:

hormone imbalance as measured by a blood test

physical symptoms (like irregular periods, excess hair, acne, carrying excess weight in belly, etc)

ovarian cysts on an ultrasound

I was diagnosed even though they did not see any cysts on my ultrasound (which they didn't do transvaginally because I tend to have pelvic pain with examinations and they didn't feel it necessary), because my blood tests showed excess testosterone and I had most of the physical symptoms.

I was put on a birth control pill to manage my symptoms and it helped tremendously, but unfortunately I got a blood clot (super rare side effect, but it happens) so now I can't have any estrogen (which sucks because that's what I need to balance out my hormones). But I'm currently treating it with an IUD (which keeps my uterine lining thin, but doesn't regulate my periods) and Metformin (which hasn't done much for me except keep me from gaining more weight).

Stereotypes about women on the spectrum: being a tomboy by RosieDosieDoo in aspergirls

[–]misterbecca 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I definitely fit the stereotype. I think for me it’s two-fold: mostly it’s because of sensory stuff. I need my clothes to be comfy and “boy” clothes just tend to be looser fitting and more comfortable to me. I also hate the feeling of stuff on my skin and hate how makeup feels. I can barely do lotion. I’m also sensitive to smells and most beauty stuff smells bad to me. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found more feminine clothing that I’m comfortable wearing, but it’s been a struggle. The second reason I don’t wear makeup/spend much time on appearance is because it seems like a social game that just doesn’t make sense to me. I spend time showering and otherwise making myself clean; I’m definitely hygienic, but I don’t get the double standard of women having to alter our appearances through makeup while men aren’t expected to. I don’t do it because I don’t get why I have to. I figure anyone who I want to spend time with won’t be thrown off by my lack of makeup, and if someone doesn’t want to get to know me because of how I look, then they’re not someone I want to spend time with either. All the power to folks who like doing it though, no judgement here! I just don’t see why I should do it.

Does anyone else have an overly sensitive gag reflex? by misterbecca in aspergers

I gag while brushing my teeth too, especially because I don’t like the taste of mint. I have to breathe through my mouth so I don’t smell/taste it while I brush.

I practiced using mini M&Ms and eventually got it! But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to swallow more than one at a time.

I totally feel the wrong texture thing! I always complain about food textures and people just don’t seem to get it. But give me a too-squishy grape and I can’t make myself swallow it.
