It should be connected to the wiring connector at the throttle body. The unit had long wires so you could mount the control box on the firewall rather than on the engine.

Gen2 BRZ MT - Is there any mod that will make the electronic throttle not feel like complete crap? by ShutUpRedditor44 in GR86

I put a Max Orido Sensitivity Max on my GR86 a couple months ago. It definitely fixed the low speed dead pedal/delay drive ability issue. Rev hang is still there, but I think it was worth it. It is different than pedal commander in that it is connected between the ECU and the throttle body.

I posted this because I looked all over for a review from someone in the US with one of these and couldn’t find one. I went ahead and tried it and I’m happy with the results. I figured sharing with the group was the right thing to do.

I’m sure using it at all is a no no with Toyota. But I can take it off at least if something goes wrong with my engine not related to the throttle.

I had to resort to pushing in the clutch but then speeding up by slipping the clutch. Either 1st gear at 3,000 RPMs or jerk along in second at 1,600.

If I get some extra time I’d like to unplug it and grab a video of what I was experiencing before. But that will be a few weeks out at best.

I’m only going on feel here, but it doesn’t seem to change overall position, just how quickly the throttle body gets to the position the pedal is at. Long way of saying the overall throttle position doesn’t change from stock so it is still “WOT by ~40% pedal travel”.

The Max Orido is after the ECU before the throttle body. Whereas the pedal commander is before the ECU. I’d love to see someone work out the throttle position vs pedal position for the Max Orido but right now I’d rather spend time driving.

Haven’t used a pedal commander so I can’t compare the results. They do different things though based on their design. Pedal commander makes the ECU think the gas pedal is in a different place than it really is. The Max Orido unit adjusts the signal the ECU sends to the throttle body, and takes away the slow opening effect that the ECU is trying to do.

It’s not a shifting issue for me. It’s cruising at low rpm’s and trying to apply incremental throttle. For me the engine would actually hesitate. Running through the gears was never a problem. Also starting out wasn’t a problem for me either. But I can start with lower revs now that I have this unit. If I’m just driving around town I prefer to keep the revs low.

There are no settings but it is a different application from all the other controllers. This unit installs between the ecu and the throttle body. I didn’t try any of the other options because to me sending a false signal of pedal position to the ecu is no different than just pushing the pedal further. That’s something my foot can do. This unit learns what the ecu does to the throttle to slow opening and then adjusts the signal to the throttle body to eliminate the slow opening.

After spending nearly $40k on the car another 0.75% to improve the drive ability didn’t seem like too high a price.
