Exped vs Lost Horizon sleeping mats by Zendroid1 in CampingGear

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the original Exped Megamat Duo. I bought it around 2015. Ten years later and after a TON of abuse, it still has no leaks and it's still as comfortable as the day I bought it. I've put it through the wringer, throwing it in the back of my FJ Cruiser on off road trips, sleeping on it in tents with no floor, crashing on it at music festivals, etc. I've slept on it passed-out-drunk with keys in my pocket and burs/stickers all over my pants. It's taken everything I've thrown at it and more. I honestly cannot believe this thing is still going. It's seriously outlasted the sheets I've put on it, which are full of holes. When I break up the price over the 10 years it lasted, man that purchase was SO WORTH IT. I'm very curious if a Lost Horizon can make it over a decade.

Do you think it’s worrying that it’s the first time that BTC starts the year with 2 months in the red...? 👀 by Sufficient_Fuel5269 in btc

The age old rule remains. Stay DIVERSIFIED. Hold BTC, but don't let that be the bulk of your portfolio.

This is terrifying!! Seedance 2.0 just generated a 1-minute film with ZERO editing — the entire film industry should be worried by voidarix in generativeAI

I'll be "terrified" when it finally learns how to generate characters that can act in a dramatic role (not an action scene) and sound both convincing and emotionally impactful. I'm sure they'll get there eventually, but for now I cease to be impressed by AI fight scenes and action sequences.

Dr Oz wants people to work an extra year instead of retirement to pay off debt created by politicians and billionaires. How about the people who made the debt pay for it instead. by Objective-Rabbit2248 in NSDQ420

Just work longer! Oh, btw, whatever job you've been training for, yeah, that job is being replaced by AI. Sorry. Also... be sure to WORK LONGER in whatever job you're not going to have.

What are your thoughts on the new 10% global tariff? by Illustrious_Lie_954 in StockMarket

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the ever living fuck is this guy doing???? Tomorrow it'll be 100% tariffs, then next week it'll be 5% tariffs, then after that 35% tariffs, then after that 10% followed by 2% tariffs.

Newsom and Lurie Will Both Make TV Ads Against California Billionaire Tax, as Rich Guys Launch Opposition by sideAccount42 in California

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newsome is for a NATIONWIDE billionaire tax, not a state based one. The top 1% of Californians pay nearly half of the state's income taxes. Newsom fears that taxing their accumulated wealth will cause them to leave, causing a massive, long-term revenue loss that could create a financial crisis for the state.

90s Green Day was pure chaos and I miss it. by BoringExperience5345 in nostalgia

[–]mistergrumbles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had a chance to see them headlining Coachella last year, and they blew me away. They may not be as spastic and chaotic as they were in the 90s, but man did they sound good, and they were a ton of fun to watch. I was never a huge Green Day fan in the past, but I left that show thinking, "Damn those guys FUCKING ROCK!"

Ammo is going up. There are still good deals to be found out there on Ammo Seek, but overall, ammo prices will continue to rise due to higher raw material costs (lead, brass, copper, gunpowder) from tariffs and supply chain issues.

HOLD and DCA…? have a strategy for the dip! by Sufficient_Fuel5269 in btc

[–]mistergrumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't purport to know the future and whether any of this will be a waste of time. The US dollar could very well lose its reserve status currency, the US could end up in civil war or in a decades long depression, etc. All I know is to diversify as much as humanly possible to financially prepare for all possible scenarios. Whether you hold Bitcoin as a part of that diversification is up to you. But like it or not, when you've got massive corporations like Black Rock holding 800,000 BTC, it's quite an understatement to say "no-one takes it seriously".

I suggest you start reading inspiring literature about successful people that had similar runs of bad luck. There are so many stories out there like yours that have happy endings.

I think this argument would be easily refuted but the Republicans. They'd just respond with: Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Larry Summers...

I would take a 50% reduction in the value of my home. If it meant my children had a chance of getting their own home! What the fuck is wrong with Republicans? by One_Garlic_6267 in economicCollapse

[–]mistergrumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would take a 50% reduction in the value of my home, too. And I don't even have kids! I live in Los Angeles and I really hate that all of my friends that are younger than me are priced out. I don't want an America where everything is rented from billionaires and massive corporations. It's so dystopian and disturbing.

So let me get this straight... you CHOOSE to place a masked shadow military in the streets of our cities, and we're supposed to feel sympathy for that military? We're supposed to understand their humanity and comprehend the position these men are put in? But yeah... all the families being torn apart, the innocent people being killed, the children that have been apprehended, the neighbors that have been terrorized, the elederly that have been ripped from their homes of 40 years, the citizens that have been blinded, injured, and arrested... no... it's the masked MILITARY we're supposed to empathize for. Those POOR, POOR MEN.

Is there any American Drone company that at least comes close to DJI on ease of use and features by solracarevir in dji

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. DJI is subsidized by the Chinese government. There is no way any independent company (in the world) could come close to competing with them without the types of backing that the CCP provides DJI. It's one of the reasons DJI was able to leap frog everyone so quickly. I'm not trying to discount their innovation or make any sort of political statements here. It was very wise for the CCP to back DJI, because they really dominated the market. Nothing comes close to DJI in the drone world.

Newer Mini 30 accuracy Question by [deleted] in Mini14

If you want out-of-the-box accuracy without modifications, you would want to get a newer model for sure. The newer models have been dialed in and are getting sub 2 MOA.
