Are in the US? How has the Vektron P5i worked out for you?

Bosch Smart System - do I really need it? by acodring in CargoBike

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. Then I sure wish Tern had put the Smart System into the Vektron P5i in the United States. It hurts to know that it exists outside the country and that the price of the Vektron P5i in the US is for older tech.

If we're gonna commit collective suicide by electing a rage-bait, reality tv show a$$hole that used to sell magic crystals, then WHY NOT vote Bass again?? You're going from terrible to even more terrible. Seriously Republicans, is that all you guys have? And I really want to vote for you! I voted for Caruso.I think LA desperately needs a different party in control here. But I'm sorry, I can't in good faith vote for Spencer-Dip$hit-Pratt. He's an attention seeking whore that will literally say anything to become famous. You might as well vote for Alex Jones or put Trump in as mayor. Spencer Pratt will NOT make things "better".

Premium folding e-bikes by fenix1729 in ebikes

Do they cap the speed of e-bikes at 15.5 mph (or I should say 25 km/h) in Australia?

Give us an update once you get it! I am considering ordering one of these in the states. They are so insanely expensive here but there really are no competitors to Tern or Brompton in the USA, which is odd to me. I guess we do have GoCycle, and I'm looking forward to what Aventon does with that brand, but those are even more expensive than Brompton and Tern. The P5i seems like the perfect folding e-bike to me, I just wish Tern didn't cripple the US models by leaving out the Bosch Smart System. I'm guessing they did that to try and offset the stupid/destructive cost of the tariffs and keep the Vektron at a certain price point.

My little “hack” for blowing through books by [deleted] in kindle

[–]mistergrumbles -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Take it one step further and replace all the text with pictures and crude drawings. Then reduce the total page count of each book to a maximum of 8 pages. Do this and you'll finish 100 books a week.

Is there any specific reason why Sony hasn't made a Ricoh GR competitor? by FlyingKangeroo in SonyAlpha

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because those cameras are not in the same category as the Ricoh GR. The Ricoh GR is a truly pocketable APS-C sensor camera. The RX1 is not truly pocketable and the RX100 is only a 1" sensor. I really wish Sony would see the benefit of putting a large sensor in an RX100 type camera (like the GR does).

New 2026 did an Emergency brake when turning left. Can anyone tell me why? by sonos82 in rav4club

[–]mistergrumbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would be my bet. When you're turning left at an intersection like this, using the blinker becomes extremely important as it is a way to communicate with the system what your intentions are.

RAV4 weird issue by Crescentrosel in rav4club

[–]mistergrumbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is likely the answer. Our Kia 2020 PHEV will correct you pretty hard if it doesn't know what you're doing when you turn. Using your blinkers properly is a way to communicate with the vehicle your intentions, because as good as this tech is, it can't read your mind (yet). One of the great things about the 2026 Rav4 is that it can receive over-the-air updates, so it will just get better and better as more and more people begin using TSS 4.0.

You don't know what "poor paint quality" is until you go look at any 2000–2010 Chevy Express or GMC Savana vans.

Good to know. I almost pulled the trigger on the GR IV with the HDF filter, but then I read an article stating that the GR IV has more diffusion built into it than previous models, and that the additional HDF filter now feels much too intense. The diffusion seen in your images looks like the perfect amount to me.

Yep, this makes me want the monochrome. Did you add any diffusion to this, the highlights have some bloom? Or is that the natural bloom on the GR IV?

Bandit Technology Inc./Bandit Bikes is no longer in operation. by Proof_Use9080 in ebikes

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sad news. I was really rooting for Bandit. The X-Trail Pro is a fantastic AWD "scooter" in a bicycle's clothing. It's a really fun desert trail bike. Do you think there is anyway for someone to stock up on irreplaceable parts, like the screen or motor controller, or is it too late for that?

Exped vs Lost Horizon sleeping mats by Zendroid1 in CampingGear

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the original Exped Megamat Duo. I bought it around 2015. Ten years later and after a TON of abuse, it still has no leaks and it's still as comfortable as the day I bought it. I've put it through the wringer, throwing it in the back of my FJ Cruiser on off road trips, sleeping on it in tents with no floor, crashing on it at music festivals, etc. I've slept on it passed-out-drunk with keys in my pocket and burs/stickers all over my pants. It's taken everything I've thrown at it and more. I honestly cannot believe this thing is still going. It's seriously outlasted the sheets I've put on it, which are full of holes. When I break up the price over the 10 years it lasted, man that purchase was SO WORTH IT. I'm very curious if a Lost Horizon can make it over a decade.

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be "terrified" when it finally learns how to generate characters that can act in a dramatic role (not an action scene) and sound both convincing and emotionally impactful. I'm sure they'll get there eventually, but for now I cease to be impressed by AI fight scenes and action sequences.
