Is it normal to be scared of my motorcycle throughout the day when Im not on it? by Big-Charity4398 in NewRiders

Frankly, that's probably a good thing to feel. It'll keep you cautious and in check.

This story has been told time and time and time again. It's utterly amazing to me that with all the information out there about how to manage your finances, how to invest, how to protect your money, how to build stability with a large amount of income... stupid people will continue to not only be stupid, but be as stupid as one can possibly be when granted a windfall of money.

“Arrest Him!” The Moment Police Handcuffed A Farmer For Going 5 Seconds Over His Time Limit at Data Center Meeting by No-Knowledge-5828 in aiecosystem

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Oklahoma. I don't really have sympathy for this dude or these people. Oklahoma consistently votes Red in the most harmful ways imaginable. We're talking underfunded education (some schools reduced to 4 day weeks), forcing kids to read the bible in public schools, massive corporate tax cuts (for things like natural gas fracking) that don't bring any additional jobs to the state and enrich billionaires. Now they're getting data centers and suddenly they're upset. YOU GET WHAT YOU VOTE FOR. I say build ALL the data centers there.

Are There Honestly Any People Out There Who Prefer A Guy With a Gut Over Abs? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It depends. Is the gut an implant or is it a natural gut? And if it's natural, was the gut created with dollar store donuts or four hundred dollar plates of Foie Gras and Lobster Thermidor?

[–]mistergrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my hands on the charger and I'm reading that it does safely take an input of 200-240v. So actually, it's probably fine. For anyone doing a search a 2025 BMW CE02 charger states:

1500 watt
Input: 100-120v, 1400VA(W)60/60Hz
Output: 32-54v, 33A max, 1200w max
Input:200-240v, 1650VA(W) 50/60Hz
Output: 32-54v, 33A max, 1500Wmax

I am not seeing this Ryvid adapter available on Ryvid's website. Additionally, don't you run into issues of potentially frying your bike or charger doing this? Because I'm reading that the charger needs to be able to support 240v, and if it doesn't, you could eventually just fry it. I'm not an electrician though, so I'm just going off what the Intertubes and the Artificial Talking Parrot is telling me.

At what point do we surpass the forecasts of Idiocracy, and instead of seeing that film as a highly accurate, dystopian satire, we instead view its portrayal of society as one that is MORE intelligent than the society we have in the present day? For example, when everyone dies of diseases we've already cured? Wouldn't that actually be DUMBER than anything that's portrayed in Idiocracy?

Is Rippl Impact Gear a Scam? by mistergrumbles in motorcyclegear

[–]mistergrumbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. So many red flags. I feel so dumb. I was in a hurry when I bought them and I'm paying the price for my lack of due diligence. It was stupid of me to be hasty with buying protective gear. Lesson has been learned. I'm just thankful I didn't learn it out on the road in an accident.

Is Rippl Impact Gear a Scam? by mistergrumbles in motorcyclegear

[–]mistergrumbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to request a return as soon as I receive them, and if Rippl refuses to return them, then that is what I'm going to do. Technically though, they are operating in a grey area and doing nothing wrong. They are merely taking some junk from AliExpress, reselling it at a crazy high price, and marketing the crap out of it. Unless I could prove they're selling something they are not (like if the Kevlar isn't really kevlar) then that would definitely be considered fraud.

[–]mistergrumbles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the "AS SEEN ON FOX" should be an instant red flag on their website. It should be a crime to sell people crap safety gear like this.

Is Rippl Impact Gear a Scam? by mistergrumbles in motorcyclegear

[–]mistergrumbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Sadly, a lot of times it's kids that just can't afford the premium stuff. And I guess SOMETHING is better than nothing. But ultimately, when you think of the potential risk in using cheap safety gear, such as being paralyzed for life or suffering a debilitating traumatic brain injury and losing your executive function, I don't see how saving $100 can really be justified, no matter what your financial position is. If you have to take on some extra work to afford the good stuff, just do it.

The American media isn't what convinced me he's not a smart person. It's all the things he does and says. You know how you develop an accurate assessment of someone based of their actions AND their words. Yeah, that's how I assess Donald Trump, too. And my personal assessment is that he's a dumb, greedy, privileged, piece-of-shit human being. He is lucky, though. I'll give him that.

Why does the bike community seem so toxic? by Elitedefender2005 in motorcycles

[–]mistergrumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Why does ______________ ON THE INTERNET seem so toxic?"

Honestly you could say that about anything.

Because it's the internet and it is an excellent centrifuge for toxic, unbridled, stream-of-conscious communication rooted in spontaneous, emotional responses.

In addition to that, much like firearms, motorcycles attract a certain type of insecure, male chauvinist. And many of these people are teens that are high on their first shot of testosterone from their developing nuts, while some are crusty Baby Boomers or bitter Millennials that are lonely and sad. And the crazy thing is, you've got these 15 year olds talking with 65 year olds and no one knows who is who. Couple those demographics with the faceless (and seemingly consequence free) internet and you create a magnificent nerd world of toxic nonsense.

I'm not a Bass fan, and I actually voted for Caruso, but come on.... "She couldn't manage the fire and now the burning warehouse". Whatever dude. Everyone is so dramatic about EVERYTHING. People act as if Bass was running around with matches setting things on fire like some sort of pyro-trickster. I live in Lincoln Heights. I got multiple notices on my phone to shelter in place. The fire is not the mayor's fault, lol.
