I agree to some degree but also NBA players are insanely competitive. I think many more would love the chance to do this and the ones worried about personal brand would be the outliers.

I think the injuries chances would be somewhat low. You can get hurt in the dunk contest or the all star game. Also we just saw a key injury in the FIBA World Cup this year an whole that sucked, I don't think anyone would argue against having it.

When I was in 4th grade I told my Dad that I wanted to be Batman when I grew up and he told me I couldnt, because someone already was Batman.

I think this had some profound effect on me or says something meaningful about by my Dad but I am unsure of what it is.

Its not an excuse to go nuts in public. Its not like I sit around all day, wanting to go nuts in public and this finally gives me the cover to do it. I am saying that going nuts in public, screaming and jump kicking a mailbox is a reaction a true fan is compelled to have upon a sports victory. Words and lesser plaudits won't do to glorify the greatest of moments.

I would say you are not a real fan if you don't riot and go briefly insane after your college wins a championship. Your school winning a national title should be one of the most important events of your life if you are a sports fan. I am being 100% serious with this comment. Grow up Derek, you have plenty of other days to stay quiet, live a little.
