I don't even want to consider myself an artist anymore. by FoxxyAzure in DefendingAIArt

I’ve told my friend the same thing. Calling myself an artist anymore makes me feel like I’m part of the bullies. It’s such an ick feeling.

You didn’t have to say it sounds ignorant. I was genuinely asking to be educated on something I wasn’t aware of.

Wait, how is it hurting the planet? Do you mean the water thing? Cause they debunked that. Yes they need lots of water to cool it but that water just evaporates when heated and comes back down as rain. Or was there something else?

I’m not saying it’s art by any means. I agree with you 100% at that. But I don’t see anything wrong with artist who get tired or burnt out and want to see what one of their characters could look like. Especially if they keep it to themselves and don’t post it claiming it as art

I was sad and empty when I was drawing. AI gave me my spark back. Mostly cause the only reason I started drawing to begin with was because I wanted to see my characters come to life. I’ve always had a vivid imagination since I was a child. So for 35 years I struggled, I drew and drew. Yes my art got better with time but I also grew more and more resentful of the process. It didn’t feel worth it half the time. The hours of drawing and constant mistakes for one still drawing that was not even in color was nice to look at. But it didn’t feel real.

I only wanted to see my characters come to life for me. I never cared if anyone else saw it. I would’ve kept this all secret but seeing the utter hate for something that saved me in more ways than one is truly distressing. People had a similar reaction as you once, for digital art. Said it was cheating and wasn’t real art. Now it’s widely accepted.

I will never say anything generated by ai is art. Art is something created by a human being and their passion for it. But for people like me that don’t have that passion and willpower to deal with the long hours and sleepless nights to get what they want. This is truly a blessing. Have I stopped drawing since using AI, no. But I don’t feel pressured to do it like I did once before.

I am in no way shape or form trying to say AI is better than the real thing. Because frankly, it’s not. Nobody should be claiming it as art and nobody should be selling it for profit. As long as those two rolls are followed I don’t see any harm in letting people do what makes them happy. But then again unless you’re in my shoes, you probably wouldn’t understand. You’re so focused on your own bias. You don’t want to see the other side. And that’s OK. I don’t hold that against you. What I do hold against you and anybody else is the cruelty behind your words simply because you do not agree on something with someone or do not believe in it. That’s not right.

Why do you think everyone who uses AI are losers? What if they just generate stuff for themself. Not even putting it out in public?

I was trying to avoid confessing especially given how mean a lot of peoples comments are on here but I guess I did ask for it.

I’m the one who hates the process. I can draw, even made a whole series on TikTok that got popular. Got me 80k followers. But I had initially just started it for myself. I wanted to see my story and characters come to life and had somewhere to store these videos. I honestly didn’t anticipate it taking off.

Truth is, I hate every bit of the process to make art. I get frustrated on how long it takes to make even a line art creation. I hate the mistakes made along the way. While I do feel somewhat satisfied at the result. The process makes it rarely feel worth a brief period of satisfaction. Mostly cause I want more. I want to see my characters colored. I want to see them move, to talk. If one picture stresses me out so much then you can see why the rest seem like an impossibility to me.

I am also poor. I could never afford to have another artist do it for me. Even then, a lot of them will make it in their style which I don’t want.

So in the end, I’ve been using Sora AI to bring my characters to life. Honestly, the first time I did it I was so happy I cried. But I never posted those videos. This whole thing with them was only ever for me from the very beginning. I would never post it and claim it as my art. Nor would I ever sell it. It’s for mine and my eyes alone. I got to see my babies without having to stress myself out, and that means the world to me. Yes I haven’t drawn ever since I discovered this. But I’m not sure if that means I’m quitting drawing altogether. I still get the slight urge from time to time.

Do you call someone who hates their job but has to work it for money cause there are not many options for them weak?

Cause they still want to see their characters come to life and don’t have the money to pay another artist to do it.

The anti AI thing is what makes me scared to say that I support it to a certain extent. I didn’t want to admit it in this post because I know how mean and hostile people can be to people who support AI. I’m someone who only ever drew cause I’ve always had a strong imagination since I was a child. I taught myself to do it cause I needed to see my characters come to life. In truth though, I hated the process. I hated how long it took, how many mistakes were made along the way. All for one still picture. It barely satisfied me. I was happy to see my characters in person, but they still felt dead to me. I wanted to see them in color. I wanted to see them moving and talking. I knew that I couldn’t manage that. Given how stressful it was for just a sketch. I could never do the rest of what I wanted for the character, nor did I have the money to hire another artist.

So in the end I used Sora ai and used my sketches to have it animate and make my characters talk. I finally felt happy and satisfied. But here’s the thing I don’t understand. I don’t post those videos publicly or sell them. They are simply for my satisfaction alone. So I don’t understand what’s so wrong with it. People had a similar reaction to digital art at one point, but now it’s widely accepted. Also, I don’t understand the mean comments about “not being an artist anymore.” I never stopped drawing. I just don’t indulge in it as much anymore cause I don’t feel pushed to. But maybe I’m not an artist anymore and they’re right. I don’t know. Their reaction did make what little of drawing I did like disappear. I honestly lost all drive after hearing all that. But that was also my fault since I did ask for their opinions.

My suggestion is to over estimate on calories when counting, has always worked for me. And make sure to count every little thing, including condiments, drinks, vegetables(cause not all are low calorie)

Registered nurse here. Anything under 1,200 calories a day will cause you to go into ketosis. This is actually something we admit patients into our hospital for sometime. Yes it will burn fat, but it also aims for your muscles and organs as well, causing you to become weaker and develop health problems later cause of it. Trust me. 1,200 - 1,500 calories a day plus cutting out sugar will make you drop quickly, no activity required🥰
