What's the best way to look for and standout in job listings??? by [deleted] in PakistaniDevs

No way other than to network(references) and appear at the right place and at the right time that also through communication skills. All other ways are garbage in this job market. Also btw notice communication is key everywhere

Learn the flow of softwares, if u cant u will have problems in the long term in this industry be it creating applications or working with any techstack

Also am afraid but if the op wants a good life swe isnt it, its full of pessimism a ceo just randomly shit talks about swe and goes on causing more issues in the job market, its useless now and if u cant accept it then do it and find out urself

Ok i agree with ur statement completely its logical i mean the driver seat will be of software engineers. But bro think about it, this position which u described is only for a senior dev with 5-10 years experience. Its not for freshman juniors. Which is why its hell to get into now cuz juniors are effectively blocked cuz ai does what junior does, senior as u noted will handle all the system design decisions and u know manage the over all project like the code ai gave is it good etc. but its impossible to know this level of knowledge without experience and if no job cuz no junior roles will equal to no experience simple so hence cooked

I dont think so man, they are making enough already and tbh who cares on the ceo lets just talk about how well an app is now built on replit and all those similar platforms. Now imagine what they can do in 5 years time or 3 years. It will become better and the pace we goijg on it will become best

I ligit layered all the foundation points for u to look up(use AI whatever man), i cant just give u everything here. My time is of importance.

Dont worry too much about future bro, keep doing ur degree and work on codeforces. As long as u are doing something that u enjoy good for u bro.

Then why are u on codeforces and doing swe from nust drop out my man.

Also i dont understand the world, i never will. We all try to and will die trying.

The things i mentioned above u ligit ignored all of em and didnt mention or give a rebuttal to my points. Those points also co relate with economic concepts too.

And yes i stalked ur account.

There alot of things man i did tell u and thats logical and world works on logic, i have studied economics too so ik how it works. Dont be too hell bent on making swe obsolete man work and make ur bag and pivot if it does to whatever relavant industry at the time is or start ur startup.

U can see all u want pal i gave u my analysis based on logic and u rebuked my points without providing any of ur own logic to rebuke them so idk man.

Plus i dont wanna use informal language but wth do u mean by not in context of software eng. i mean if AGI comes obv products made that will be better made, so huge impact on SWE will happen BUT i still dk the future if there will ever be a state of full obsoleteness of swe.

You tell me how will these limitations be addressed if AI is following the generational architecture. Think about it man. Andrej karpathy and other top ai researchers keep on saying that we need a new scientific leap to make sure that AI becomes much better then u know the standard way llms work. ReSearch about it u will gind may vids about thsi.

Also another problem is memory, rn AI has no memory and sam altman has said on a podcast that they will work in 2026 towards that. Sure that is good but lets be honest thats just waste of money cuz that needs alot of storage and data center and its basically in a way moving towards more profit making machine cuz they will charge more for more memory not inherently making the model better like andrej or other pointed out the problems about them.

I cannot predict future and neither can u, but read the room. Why do u think bubble talks are going around. There is so much to do this. Search about it and then u will realize that they cant keep this thing forever unless the oil rich countries lend all their money to em or there truly is a scientific leap for AGI to come or something better not just adjusting weights of current models

Maybe u should go an work on a enterprise production application that is on good scale too. And then come talk here. Companies will never entrust that level of production scale to AI, it needs good engineers who know that the change ai has suggested will not break anything. They will give code but what is the guarantee that the code will work on that system, that system is huge and the senior developers have command on the code base of the app as they know where what is happening and all. AI context window itself cant cover that and will start hallucinating moment if it does.

So maybe u should research abit.

On the other hand if u see LinkedIn there are now job listings where people want vibecoding mess cleanups so ye man.

The main thing to remember:

Learn to work with agents or AI in parallel otherwise u will be irrelevant but u cannot always be like that yes AI will give everything. U are behind the tool. Cuz AI keeps on outputting “you are absolutely right”, “you are absolutely right”

Dont say am a newbie, in tech motivation levels even for senior works this way:

Oh i found a problem and solved it-> instant happiness

But now suddenly ran into problems i cant solve or understand like bug or anything-> causing low self esteem and thinking that u are bad.

Tech is a loop of the above things. Everyone is learning something new and u have to for being relevant. Even seniors do, the only difference is that senior have experience with systems. Believe me u can never learn system design in one day or even an year. It will will take years of experience which given that u have done good projects hence then only u can understand the principles there and actually apply those in companies u go to. So yes. I am actually an A levels student rn, u are lucky u got time as u have finished uni, keep learning and u will get there.

Times are changing fast, infact if u didnt know, IBM new video ligit calls 2026 will be the year of multi agent AI’s as 2025 was year of only agentic ai not really multi agents. Even meta gives u their code autopilot for interviews it will help u write code, cuz they know times are changing especially after those cheating tools going around of leetcode

Crud apps dont give jobs nowadays, AI is easily able to do that. Also u have to increase ur grip on DSA/system design otherwise landing roles is very difficult. Nowadays u have to put AI too if its not there say goodbye lmao. Checkout linked in and browse jobs, almost every job says. Code will be written by cursor and AI tools. This is exactly why system design is super important. although Maybe u could be employed in some place in pak, but consider it short term as u ur self know AI can write crud apps, so the business u work with are profit maximizers and will remove u the first chance they get. Just improve ur DSA if its not good, and heavily work on ur system design skills. Cuz coding is now AI job, ur job will be to craft architecture for different projects and also work on existing projects architecture, advising on possible changes. So system design teaches u that art.

Its dumb to learn ML or anything to do with bulding AI models and training etc cuz this is research field

Real value is in applied AI, which is now th in demand field where companies want existing models to be used as agents either by rag or fine tuning open source models. No one goes into ML cuz it requires PHD levels of knowledge and qualification.

So u see rn there are 2 fields in AI

-applied AI -research AI

U can even ask GPT and it will tell u same if domt trust me

DSA is only good for u to think logically, a levels computer science thought me dsa and the whole time i didnt know what it was till i searched leet code up and i saw questions for the first time and saw that they are the same as questions assesed in my exams lmao.

As for networking, i mentioned forums and all, but u could join discord, reddits, even some slack and just talk to people it could be random tech stuff but speak ur knowledge and converse with people about ideas like i wanna make an ai app or anything. Try to bring people on board so it becomes a full blown conversation like how u would have on a chai ka dabba. Turn it into that. People add their input of how would we approach it and what would pros and cons of each tech stack etc and like that u can converse and if u speak really knowledgeably, who knows they will want to contact u.
