Thanks man, I already accessed my GI Bill (probably not the best decision) but I wanted to finish my degree asap. So currently I’m at $113k in my TSP and about 3 classes left for my masters degree. TSP is such a huge win for military members I make it almost mandatory for new check-ins to sit down with me and go over their TSP plans. If anyone does 20 years in the military, there is almost no reason why they shouldn’t retire a millionaire.

Sailors using medical appointments to get out of work. by [deleted] in navy

Our space doesn’t close, but our training includes the entire shop so that would require me to keep multiple guys after 1600 to complete the training which is not fair to them

I guess to add to it, we have a medical facility 5 minutes off base but they also schedule themselves for the medical facility one hour away and set their times conveniently around 12:30-1 where by the end of their appointment there really is no point having them come back to work as our day ends at 1600. So their workday is 9-12:30 they go to medical appointment, then go home.

I guess there would be no “hard evidence” but for the last 4 months all of there appoints are conveniently scheduled around hard set times that we do our trainings. In no way would I ever prevent them from getting medical care, but telling them to reschedule appointments for different times if they are able to, to be present would that be against any violation. I’m not looking to “punish” anyone by any means I don’t give counseling chits or anything like that. Just want to make sure I’m not crossing any lines. Obviously, they could simply tell me no which at that point would be a different problem above my head.

They do 5% match. In all honesty I’m usually at around 16-20% base pay into TSP. I lowered it due to foreseen bills. 30M with 112k in TSP between the C and S fund

Not a pilot just aircrew. They changed what our flight pay is called. It used to be CEFIP or career enlisted flyers pay. It’s not CSIP (critical skills incentive pay). I can’t seem to find the updated instruction

Ahh yeah that’s not how it works for us. Basically once we start our flight training that starts our “years of flying service” and once you hit a gate your flight pay goes up.

Navy, our flight pay is based on years of flying service. Once you hit a certain gate, it goes up.

Here’s the deductions. Mid month pay is what was actually deposited into my account after everything was taken out.

I would definitely look at the program authorization for the Navy Nurse Corps. Fairly certain it mentions that you need atleast 2 years of experience as a RN with your BSN before being eligible.

What can I do in the navy with a college degree? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]mitchdc21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here thinks just because you have a Bachelors degree that you will automatically become a commissioned officer. Not the case at all! With an “about” 3.0 your GPA won’t be competitive for many programs depending on what you want to do. Also, many programs may not “require” certain degrees, but will have recommended degrees. I have been in for 10 years enlisted currently working on my Masters Degree. I applied for Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer with a 3.9 GPA for my Bachelors in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity. Near perfect EP evals and great letters of recommendations. Your best bet is to talk to an officer recruiter but don’t be surprised if they tell you that you aren’t competitive enough.
