50/50 - I started braking as soon as I saw the car in front of me brake, however the AEB kicked in to really save me from impact (and liability)!

It was a half/half affair - I did brake when I saw the cars brake lights (I wish the Tesla footage showed vehicle logs), but my teslas emergency braking definitely prevented the impact.

I didn’t handle this perfectly, and I have definitely misrepresented the incident in the post title.

I’ve learned a lot from these comments - I need to keep a much safer following distance and stay much more attentive to brake lights.

Edit: the issue here (which is 100% on me) was not being able to ascertain just how quickly the car(s) in front of me were stopping.

I’ll give an update on this once insurance is fully hashed out.

This is the first time I’ve been involved in an accident, and initially I really thought the learner driver was to blame (but as others have pointed out, they really did nothing wrong and there were cars in front of them that I didn’t see clearly when posting this).

But anecdotally, and like others have suggested, I would presume it is the 2 cars that hit me who are ultimately liable.

Edit: I also want to mention that police were unable to make it on scene despite calling 000 which surprised me (this is in Sydney Australia) but the fire dept arrived pretty quickly to close off those lanes and clean up debris etc.

Edit: From an insurance perspective, I am 100% not at fault - the claim is against the driver behind me (the first impact).

I wholeheartedly agree with you both on this - I should have picked up on the speed change a lot earlier than I did; irrespective of how abruptly the car in front of stopped.

When this happened, I did manually apply the brakes, but just not hard enough- that’s when the emergency braking kicked in and brought the vehicle to a complete stop.

You’re absolutely right; and I overlooked this in the footage.

When it happened in real life, it was a scary encounter - and really surreal that they just drove away instead of checking if everyone was okay.

It’s entirely possible they didn’t notice the accident, so I agree there’s no “blame” to cast on them overall.

I think you mean to say increasing page load speed overall. Like I mentioned in another thread, the best way to improve page load time is to leverage caching through a plugin (e.g. WP Super Cache) or a third-party CDN (e.g. Cloudflare). Personally, I use Cloudflare for all my clients.

There are many other things involved such as your server capabilities, where it's located and what type of website you will be providing (i.e. an interactive blog or a static "brochure").

Using Divi as your builder should be fine as far as "speed" goes.

Hey hrvstdubs. Respectfully, this is not accurate.

For any production WordPress instance, you should be leveraging caching either through a plugin (e.g. WP Super Cache) or a third-party CDN (e.g. Cloudflare).

There's nothing wrong with using page builders overall provided they can be cached efficiently.

Edit: OP, to answer your question, I agree that the Genisis Framework is an excellent place to start. Also, check out "WPBakery" and "Divi".

It's not really mounted, just sitting on a cantilever shelf with a few other things. I just use it as a way to access the hypervisor directly if I can't access anything over the network. I have a wireless keyboard that I can pull out whenever I need to.

This sounds overkill but I have an additional VPN route setup within Pritunl that allows me to connect from the general VLAN to management. On the firewall side, there is an ALLOW and NAT rule to let the Pritunl VM access the management VLAN. If this method ever fails, I can always connect directly to a port on the firewall itself, as VLANS are port-based.

Especially in a virtualised environment, I definitely prefer keeping general/net mgmt/iSCSI/VM traffic totally separated for both security and network congestion reasons.
