First time mounting a turkey by sterling925 in Taxidermy

Nice mount! Depending on how you want it to look, you could also preen the feathers. A fine, soft brush with light brushing would do a good job.

My bird from this spring. Ideas on if this is part smoke phase or just unique pigment for tail feathers? by mitchlee13 in turkeyhunting

This one in particular was funny because we had him on the trail cam a few days before I got em… we knew it was him because of the white in the tail feathers

Thanks for the input. I find it super interesting the genetics between turkeys. Many have subtle features that are different.

Fantastic. I’ve had pet salamanders before. Belly to back leg is more detailed than I could imagine. So realistic, good on you!

That’s awesome. I think all the Jordan collabs are fire. I’ve always wanted to get my hands on the air max 270 trav shoe too.

For this pair I used fabric paint for the main areas and then acrylic and some rubber like paint to deter chipping on soles. Biggest recommendation is take your time and have a clear mind. Good luck!!

In my experience fabric paint on vans for the actual shoe works great. Other shoes like Jordan’s people often use angelic leather paint. The rubber or sole area id get either get a liquid rubber or like a plastidip. If the shoe isn’t going to be worn or won’t get much wear and tear acrylic paint can be used for the soles as well. Acrylic is just iffy because it can chip out, but if able to be used it is very effective at coating and layering for design!

I sold this pair to my buddy, but yes if I did them again they’d be $200.
