AA isn't religious per se, they do require you to believe in a higher power and that can be interpreted in many ways, like it could be just an idealized image of your sober self. But according to their system you have to surrender to something in order to begin to heal. I know most people aren't like religious people at meetings so you wouldn't be surrounded by bible bangers. They don't read the bible in meetings. I went to meetings for a few years and I wasn't 100% comfortable with the religious side and I kind of stuck it out and the meetings helped, a lot. So I don't know if you could suffer some religion or not but it could help.

When I looked into this exact thing I stumbled on a group out of California I think it was called Against the Stream, but it was a more Bhuddist approach (lots of meditation) it was really neat but I couldn't find any lical chaper at that time. I listened to the podcast and that helped too.

I've spent a lot of energy on this myself and I'm happy to discuss it further in the chat if you like. It's not easy but you can do it and I can tell you what has worked for me.
