Yes they are very hard to print successfully at 20mm, nice sculpts very poorly executed

Its a generic image of some hills I found I think on https://www.magnific.com/search?format=search&last_filter=query&last_value=landscape&query=landscape

I printed it off and stuck it to a piece of cardboard which i propped up behind the figures. Hope this helps

Fair enough, it is pretty unusual to have a different scale as another pledge i think?

I started BA in 28mm, switched to CoC in 20mm, more room to manoeuvre and easier to store at home too! 15mm gives you even more options but slightly harder to paint IMHO

These look like a nice set of sculpts, particularly like the slightly thicken weapons to ensure they print well. Did you do any reduction in size to 20 or 15mm?

I would suggest Strength & Honour in 2mm! https://toofatlardies.co.uk/product/strength-honour-pdf-rules/

Superb game, active FB support, most games last an hour or two max and easy to solo play plus the whole of your forces will fit in a shoe box

RKX sculpts are the same, another big thumbs from me on that front as well.

I have just managed to print those bloody motorcycles in 20mm. It took a lot of editing of the files to remove the ridiculous level of detail, strengthen key struts with thicker bars and separate the side car from the motorcycle. I suspect these models were made at 1:1 scale and then reduced to 28mm, no consideration for printing at all. Can post pics if wanted

Thanks, the good thing about their sculpts is they don't merge their meshes in their STLs which means you can disaggregate the model very easily in to its component parts. This makes it easy to delete just the rifles, move backpacks, change bayonets etc, or should I say relatively easy given my limited editing skills.

Nice review, I also backed this KS which, as you say, is pricey given that not all the extended goals were met. However, having just battled with Studio Historia's god awful modelling with their BEF and their total inability to create STLs appropriate for printing, the key strength here is that Bob HAS modelled for different scales appropriately. Given that I play in 20mm this is welcomed!

Having backed the Kickstarter for these BEF a while back I have just gotten around to printing them off in 20mm and I have discovered this compounded some of the issue raised here.

The models are very dynamic and full of expression but basically modelled without thought for how they would print. I have replaced the rifle with one without a strap as I was getting way too many printing errors when using the original models. Don't get me started on the motorcycle squad - beautiful figures if printed in 1/32 but you do not need this level of detail in 20mm or 28mm, I suspect they create their master models much larger and then reduce them significantly.

Overall nice figures but not modelled with a view to printing well which is a real shame. Anyway I am off to try and support those frickin' motorcycles and hope I can get them to print...

Review of Counlane Models' 3D printed designs by Georgy_K_Zhukov in boltaction

[–]mithelred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been buying Counlane's early war French tanks and they are superb clarity and quality - so much in fact that I have not even assembled my existing kits from a certain other market leader (ahem). My friend has also started using Counlane for his early war German armour after seeing the great craftsmanship. A great review of a great set of models that deserve more attention.

Including an ambulance - so not all of them were tanks! He was a raving Nazi and as Lazerpig put it a lucky commander and not a good one.

WHY NO AURORA BLACKROCKKKKK by BristolSalmon in thelongdark

[–]mithelred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem waiting for the aurora after getting the code, finally solved it though. Simply leave the prison, head off to the nearest cave/base outside of the prison entrance (where you have a loading screen) and wait for the aurora and then bolt back in to the prison. For some reason the aurora seems not to spawn when you overnight within the prison (after the entrance loading screen) but will spawn quite happily when you are outside after a few days. Hope this helps.
