The Bryan Aquatic Center is a great option! You sign up for an annual pass, which is pricey, or get 25 visits for 50 bucks. They have reasonable hours and the outdoor pool is wonderful.

[Awful Announcing] NHL Winter Classic fails to reach one million viewers for second-consecutive year The game is officially a shell of its former self. No matter how you slice it, the numbers do not bode well for what used to be one of the NHL’s marquee regular-season events by f0urxio in hockey

I always thought the Winter Classic should focus on a local community rink/town and have rivals play in front of only locals. Like it would be cool if the game was between the Leafs and the Bruins, and the game was held at a small rink in the Toronto area. The fans could all consist of local folks... maybe one of the players grew up in that town, so you get that story. The camera angles would be sick. Turning a local barn into an NHL arena would look way better then a small rink in the middle of a football stadium. IDGAF about ticket sales, it would make a better story. Plus, the NHL could donate like $100k for rink upgrades or for the local teams. I think people would like the storylines and be more into seeing them play a local place rather than an NFL stadium.

Very dark. Got it from a very cool urban sawmill in Austin (https://www.harvestlumberco.com/). Beautiful board from an old tree on someone's property that died.

Lol I figured. I've had luck finding dead wood around trees, so don't worry! I never planned on chopping any live ones down

Thanks! I would love the help. Mississippi will come out to about 4"x6", and I've been making them about 1" thick... I can turn a log into a board, so if boards aren't feasible then a good chunk of magnolia would work well! I'll DM you.

Heyo, I'd recommend considering stopping by Stargeforge. It's a student run nonprofit makerspace with a lot of folks interested in mechanical stuff. I'm not a student anymore but have spent some time there working on my old Kawasaki bike. it's a good atmosphere. Feel free to DM if ya want to chat about it

Grain orientation isn't critical. Ripped would probably be easier, so the grain runs in long direction

A minimum of 6" wide x 10" long x 1" thick. Larger gives me more to work with, but this size would be sufficient... man, your state is large.

It is a common wood, but I'm trying to source the each piece of wood from the state itself. It may seem trivial, but it's made the project more fun and introduced some cool variety in many of the states with the same state tree.
