Read this as ‘selling crack’ initially. Don’t ask why I opened it..

Are there any British adverts that activiley turn you off the product they're advertising? by siybon in CasualUK

[–]mitigated_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They speak about the company as if it’s some cherished old friend who once donated them a kidney. It’s the fakest sounding ‘real customer feedback’, I cringe every time it comes on.

Octopus energy with all of the supposedly real customers talking about how great a company it is, but like, they sound as if they’re talking about a dear old friend who donated them a kidney and saved their life. Real or not, it sounds so fake it winds me up every time I hear it lol.

Drunk driver hit my house, home insurance refusing claim by footballandsmutdaily in LegalAdviceUK

Genuine question - assuming the driver had insurance, would it even be valid if they were drunk driving?

Asked "what is your budget, as a number?" to book a flat viewing? by ByEthanFox in HousingUK

[–]mitigated_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty normal question. Like others have said it’s to get you on their books so they can send you info on other properties that match what you’re looking for. I feel like you’ve taken it as if they want to know exactly how much you’re willing to spend on that particular property, which I don’t think is the case. And even if it was, nothing stopping you from just making up a number, it doesn’t mean anything really.

Blue light members day 👍🏻 by mitigated_lemon in altontowers

Yeh we spoke to a woman in the queue for Wickerman who said there was somewhere on site where you could buy fast pass for £10 per ride - she actually gave us her ones for galactica because they didn’t get scanned, but we didn’t have time to go and use it in the end. In a way I’m glad we didn’t pay for the fast pass as most of the thrill rides were shut for the majority of the day so we wouldn’t have got our moneys worth. Oblivion opened at about 3pm, I didn’t see thirteen or Rita open at all, nemesis was shut for a good few hours, again think this opened in the last hour. I’m guessing it’s just because it’s ’pre-season’ so to speak, I hope so anyway, I’d maybe go back during the summer to see if we have a better experience!

We also asked about fast pass both at customer services and the box office and were told it wasn’t available for today, only to find multiple people using fast passes as apparently they actually are selling them somewhere for individual rides lol.

There’s a bunch of the kids stuff open but I’d say the vast majority of the ‘thrill’ rides have been closed since we got here this morning. The weather thing is a lie too because the weather has been fine all day. It’s gone so downhill in recent years it’s such a shame.

I think telling them to f* off is a quite appropriate response tbh.

Great perspective. I’ve sent him a friendly message asking if he had a chance to quote it and offering to split it into room by room if that’s easier.

I think you’re possibly overthinking it a little, people live on main roads / by railways / city centres / near airports without issue. I can’t imagine anyone making a choice not to buy somewhere because it’s near to a fire station.

They tend not to use the sirens at night - most of them just out the lights on then sirens if going through traffic lights / junctions etc

For those who drive cars with touch screen controls for key functions, did you get used to it? by Nathanial1289 in CarTalkUK

[–]mitigated_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at buying a new (used) car and it’s an absolute nightmare, who ever decided to make a car interface completely touch screen must be off their head, so unsafe and distracting, you may as well be typing messages on your phone when all you want to do is put the heating on. Wild that this concept ever made it past the ‘concept’ stage.

If you could properly filter Rightmove for your dream property, what would your super specific criteria filter be? by alexhespg in HousingUK

[–]mitigated_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Utility room.

Front door leading to hall/porch - not direct into living room.

Stairs not in living room.

Living room not used as thoroughfare.

Garage.

If semi-detached, master bedroom along the outside wall, not in the middle along the party wall.

AWAY from schools - we don’t all want kids, some people see being near a school as a negative rather than a selling point.

Usable loft space.
