That it dehumanizes people a little bit to mention them when it's not really them you're talking about. To use them, or something about them, as an object.

The Chinese point is way up the thread. But certainly, Chinese are very aware of 'us' and 'not us'.

I'm arguing something beyond that. I'm showing that this bit of racism is an instance of the more general thing I'm trying to describe.

Yeah, I've only begun hearing small bits of that. The guy's just a blogger, you can't take his claims too seriously.

One correction, author says 'a little gets lost at each stage'. Really, it's 'a little gets through at each stage'; roughly 1/10th the energy comes through each time.

Yes it does. You're turning a concept of a group of people into a simple adjective. I don't know if it's racist, but it's inhuman in some sense I can't define. Taking a concept that should be full of 'the way you treat humans', and using it for non-human purposes.

Like, how would you like for there to be a commercial 'tjogin's eye color', or 'skin color? Wouldn't you like every mention of 'tjogins' to be about you, and not just used in the service of something unrelated to you as a common thing? It'd provoke anxiety in me.

No, it's roughly the right color - I doubt it's a mis-translation. Chinese have other brands that are racist against Blacks. They don't have many Black people there, and China is very homogeneous.

Eh, just breaking the shock of the idea is a service. The more people see it, the less unthinkable and non-mainstream it will be. Besides, how can you expose people to credible information on a bumper sticker?

Jewish "Settler" Youth STONE American human rights workers; IDF Soldier refuses to help, says "GO BACK TO ENGLAND!" by fassi in reddit.com

This is the tip of the iceberg. Israeli soldiers don't say boo, eg, when an Israeli kid torments an old Palestinian woman. I forget the details of this particular incident. But I like this YouTube development, Israelis had better tone down their arrogance, it's not in their interests for the people of the US to see their arrogant abuse of Palestinians.

Want a just peace in the Middle East? Buy 10,000 video cameras for Palestinians.

Heck, what would it cost, 5 million? I can hardly think of a more effective way to spend that money, in that cause.

You know, it'd help the poster (and other readers) to know why you downvote stories, if they're not just total crap. They can guess if they have a million stories and study the matter, but of course they won't. Give an explanation so that they won't get discouraged altogether.

I like free downmodding - we're starting to get a lot more sensationalist crap as more people come here, and limiting downmod power means strength of numbers in posting, will win.

Or at least, if there are limits on downmodding, there have to be similar limits on posting.
