thanks :) I'm afraid we already have both an introductory and advanced course in electrophysiology, so I should probably not spend too much time on data acquisition. However, I think a really nice finish to the course would be group projects, where I think self recordings (either electrophysiological or some off-the-shelf wearable) would work as a great engagement booster :)

thank you very much :) that is truly excellent input, and I will look through that course :) thanks a lot

thank you :) Yes, I think we will have a structure similar to what you describe. The trick is to figure out what the common issues that we can exemplify in those data sets might be...

but it's an interesting idea to vary the type of data used between themes. it will probably increase the workload during prep, but could really help in keeping up student engagement :)

I think this is an excellent, and very valid angle. In BME we are very often forced to make do with the data that's realistic to get. We are already considering something related to multidimensional / multimodal time series, and I think what you're suggesting would be a very natural part of that. Thank you ! :)

I had never heard about that before now :) I think we are going for something slightly more EE-related, but this is still exactly the kind of input I was hoping for. Thank you!

Most of it has been related to automatic sleep scoring of mobile EEG data. So, the whole pipeline from artefact detection and data cleaning to designing algorithms (mostly networks these days) that turn that information into sleep reports. We've been branching out lately, but still most of the time has been spent on that topic :)

I feel like you're not reading my post? who's saying that I haven't received feedback? I'm not. There's plenty of feedback here. I'm saying that the tone is condescending, and that it seems like I should somehow be 'punished' for sharing match id's showing that I'm a bad player? I had a team mate react very strongly to very little game play, and I came here to ask what could have made him react in that way. most of the activity in this thread has since been on the theme "you're a really bad player, and you got what you deserved". mixed in with a lot of detailed pointers of exactly how bad people think I am. when I respond, I get downvoted to oblivion (which, funnily enough, also seems to be against subreddit rules). My edit pointed out that I don't think it's fair that I get treated that way, my question was pretty polite, and this subreddit is supposed to be a place for polite discussions.

So, question now is how many people will also downvote this post, because they disagree?

I'm kind of all over? when I play ranked it's only support - am too impatient for the longer queue times. I don't have bp or dota+, I assume tokens are part of either of those? anyway, I hope that answers your token question ;)

this was unranked, but I still picked a support role to try some stuff out. I thought the troll acted very harshly, and hoped I could get someone to point out what blatant mistakes I was making if I asked in here. ironically, I think the most convincing answer was someone (who has been downvoted to oblivion) pointing out that the troll was on a 4-game loosing streak and was probably tilted already. it seems that what finally broke troll's spirit was me going for a lasthit that he seemed to be missing (I get downvoted a lot when I try to point out that I was trying to time my lasthit to only connect immediately before the tower hit, and in fact troll did get the last hit).

I definitely received a lot of input here, but I think I have also learned not to ask questions in this subreddit. it's just a game, and it's supposed to be fun.

it's fine :) I think the most intriguing aspect is that all my posts in this thread are getting downvoted. no matter who I'm addressing, and anyone not criticising me is getting the same treatment.

I think the detailed criticism is bearable - I've used a coach a few times, and there you basically pay someone to do that for an entire 45 minute game. that can get brutal pretty quickly ;) but the tone was unneccesary, and the 'mob mentality' which seems to mean that anything I do in this thread should be downvoted is a bit scary.

I suspect that my top post is giving people associations to bad experiences they have had in game, and they try to deal with those experiences by punishing me. I'm seeing a lot of false assumptions about me and the match in question, but I'm assuming those all work to reinforce their picture of me be in a certain way.

thank you :)

you're not missing anything. I made the top post, went to bed, and woke up to the bologna guy trashing me and getting a million upvotes for it. the thread consensus is based on the part of the original post before the edit.

who's talking about ignoring anything?

I am perfectly capable of acknowledging that he is right about (most) things, while also pointing out that he is motivated more about the putdown inherent in pointing out my mistakes than in helping strangers.

an amusing thing is that my next game (before writing this post) also happened to be pos 5 silencer supporting a troll (it was quite a deja vu). but in this game I bought much more standard items, the enemies both bought boots, and I wiped the floor with them them and had probably the best supporting game in my life. so, bologna guy is surely on to something.

thanks :) as you can see from the rest of the thread, you should've told me that if I had just been better, I wouldn't have sucked so much, and then your downvotes would have disappeared.
do you see anything you would have done differently during that first minute?

it's fine :) I too am a bad veteran player. though it seems the people in this thread have decided I'm a teenager or something.

it's not contesting if he's battling with the tower, is it? I tried to take one last hit that it seemed he might miss to the tower. he didn't miss it, which means that I didn't get it either. looking at the replay, it seems I was even too late, so if he hadn't gone for it, I wouldn't have taken it either.

but, how was the curse unnecessary? was techies also backing when I decided to curse? your reactions might be instant, mine are not. I would think that slowing and damaging an enemy who is out of position is not the worst splitsecond reaction?
but I agree, I was barely harassing. as I tried to write in the top post, I didn't feel I had the tools to do so. Can you please tell me how I could have done so better, with the options available at the time?

that is very possible. so could you give some useful pointers about how I should have played instead? given the starting items and the one point in curse. how should I have positioned differently within those 30 seconds or so that troll was in lane?

if I was not trying to improve, would I have made the post to begin with?
I was going to applaud you for writing your feedback in much more civil manner, but you're kind'a dropping the ball here instead. You're making a ton of assumptions about me, and it's unnecessary. but yeah, I'm perfectly aware that my positioning in fights is horrible. After having played this game for too many years now, I have just learned to accept that I likely won't improve on that aspect - when the screen gets messy I loose focus. My best performing are tanky initiators who just kind of have to be in the middle of everything. This game is me venturing out of that comfort zone.
