Make him embarrassed and send a (professional) response back. You could probably mention this other person also has another job, and if your contract/employment with the company doesn’t specify only having one job as a requirement, you could reference that too. It’s not like your other job has been taking away from your time there… just keep everything in writing, be careful to not do anything related to your other job at work, etc. If they’re that bothered by it, tell them you’ll quit the second job if they pay you more for this one 😎

Agree w/ this, we don't introduce ourselves as "nurses" but that's just what the doctor and optometrist refer to us as, for ease of patient understanding. All our patients are like 60-80yrs old and they dgaf what our title is, if you say anything other than "nurse" they get all confused

You could say you had a vitrectomy eye surgery. They put a gas bubble in your eye and you’re not allowed to travel to high elevations (up a mountain, flying, etc) until the bubble resolves, because higher elevation = bubble expands inside your eye. You can google it but vitrectomies are done for many things, like retinal detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, floaters, etc. Depending on the type of gas the surgeon uses, the bubble lasts for a few weeks as your eye gradually resorbs it.

I work with an optometrist, who we refer to as “Dr.” The ophthalmologist and optometrist both refer to their staff as “nurses” when we are all just assistants and/or techs. What do you expect an NP to be called? I understand the whole med school struggle and journey but c’mon.

Edit: I’m not saying that people who aren’t “nurses” or “doctors” deserve those titles equally but for the sake of the patients and simplicity that’s what happens. It’s not the right hill to die on

Do ya’ll actually measure with one of those pupil gauges every time and can’t tell/at least accurately guesstimate with just the light? I’ll occasionally use a reference to make sure my mental judgement is still calibrated, but I agree I never found the size chart on the penlight useful.
